Wednesday's pov:
"It's your brother," says Enid, who held the door open a peek.
With a frustrated sigh, she marches over and swings the door open, shoving the revolver to his head. "What did I say about seeking me for unnecessary reasons?"
The boy jolted at her stern voice and fumbled with his words once again, like he did the previous night after she found him. The sadness in his eyes hadn't left, they had gotten deeper and stickier, for now his father shared his sorrow as well.
"I-I just want to say-"
"You will be no help to me. You've done enough." Enid shifts uncomfortably as she glances at the burnt newspaper that spoke of the Zombie incident. The report didn't mention her brother's name nor how the Addams' family had any connection to it, but it didn't damage whatever advantage she had gained from the inner court's gossip, for the general public was seeing Evelynn as a hero while her brother as an idiot.
According to Enid, Pugsley had electrocuted all of you to save his so-called friend. His actions had put you in danger. Leading Evelynn to save you by launching the Zombie far from you. A story that was slightly changed for the media that told the tale of the pop star who chose to become a shield to protect the girl she loved, which led to the princess in shining armor to break out of the uncontrolled electric shock that came from an untrained freshman, aka Pugsley. You had broken out to protect your lover.
No matter how you told the story, it still placed the demon beauty on a pedestal. A pedestal that many vampires and non-vampires that would've been allies would applaud Evelynn.
"I can win Evelynn's love over- dad can-" Slamming the door shut, she returns to her research about Lady Whistledown. She would've preferred making a letter to Count Orlak but Y/B/F/N was having some difficulty due to the man being picky about who he speaks with. It also didn't help that she and her brother had sworn loyalty to you, which was something the Count would definitely take into account, for he did openly hate the royal family.
If Lady Whistledown joins my side and helps spread information about my deficiency to the King, he'll take an interest in me. She returns her attention to the board that was filled with old Whistledown gossip and articles about the unknown writer.
After studying their writing style and how they published, there was no doubt that they were someone who had knowledge about the publishing world and was deep in it. Additionally, they were clearly financially stable to be able to print so many pamphlets that were soft cardstock with the finest ink. To print out so many that reached the entirety of the UK and other continents like Asia without a publisher was a true feat of money.
"They must be in high society," thinks Wednesday out loud as she reviews the diction and the contents of the articles.
"Wouldn't it be easier to post these stories online instead?" Asks Enid as she joins her. "I use Substack, Insta, Tumblr, and other outlets."
"They clearly don't want to get caught," says Wednesday. She hands Enid a handful of Whistledown's articles on high society scandals. "They expose subjects that so-called mainstream media columns don't."
"Wow! I can see why TMZ and others are fuming about them!" Wednesday turns her attention. Her eyes demand the multi-colored girl to expand on that comment. "TMZ, El Gorda y La Flaca, and other gossip and scandal shows have tried to take down Whistledown. It's so bad that even the Queen of England is annoyed."
"The Queen?" Enid nods and pulls out her phone. As she types away, Wednesday returns her attention to the board. She was right then about the writer being in high society. If they were exposing such things that even the Queen was reading, then they must be deep within it.
