My morning before class passed quickly, and was fairly boring. Most people kept complaining about school being back in session, so it was hard to actually relax and talk.
After that I went to my class, slightly perking up on the way, thinking about Luke. His gorgeous blonde hair, and eyes, and.... Dakota. Focus. School. Focus. I told myself as I walked there. Finally I reached the door, and Luke, right across from me, about to walk in too. We reached the door at the same time and he pulled it open for me.
"Watch yourself." he said, smiling and nodding to the door.
I rolled my eyes and gave a small smile as we walked in.
I walked down the aisle and sat at my desk, slyly watching him sit at his corner one. When the class began, I attempted to listen until I saw a gorgeous hummingbird circling outside the window. I watched it dazed for a while until I felt a jolting kick to my desk. I turned to Luke and he pointed to the teacher.
"Miss Hastings" she reprimanded, " please try to listen. I am now accustomed to the shenanigans of your disrespectful brothers but I urge you not to follow behind them in their dreaded path." She turned back and continued her lesson. I quietly tore off a scrap piece of paper and scrawled out a Thanks for the painful kick! note and sent it over to Luke. He answered back.
L : Your welcome for saving you!
I rolled my eyes again and heard him chuckle.
I tore a new, big piece of paper and said Whatever :P
L: Hey, did Mrs. F say you had brothers? Do I know them?
Oh God I hope not, I thought.
D: No, I don't think so. I answered.
L: Names?
Ugh.
D: Blake, Dylan, Nick, Talen.
L: Wow! 4? That must be awesome!
D: HAHAHAHAHAHA No.
L: Will I get to meet them sometime?
NO! I screamed mentally! The bell rang before I could write a response so we just began gathering our things and then left together.
As we were walking out the door he asked his question again, "So, I never got an answer, could I maybe meet your brothers someday?"
"Ummmm, No." I answered, looking down.
"Why not?" he seemed somewhat hurt.
"They're... not... normal." I said.
"What?" he laughed.
"They're mean and... love to embarrass me." I slightly chuckled, lightly blushing.
"Oh Come on! I think it would be fun." he said. After some silence from me he began again, "Hey, so I know we don't know each other that well, but would it be ok if we traded phone numbers?" he asked.
"Like- for... educational purposes?" he offered, maybe just thinking of our class.
I smiled and nodded and we traded numbers. When he wasn't looking, I added a small heart emoji next to his name. We got to the intersection of hallways so waved as we walked apart to our other classes.
I walked into my math class and saw all of the class lined around the room. A girl named JJ told me that Mr. Palmer was assigning seats. I prayed to be away from Dylan.
He called out all the rows until he got to the last one on the left. "JJ. Dakota. Dylan. Nathan." he called out. I got to my seat and groaned. As I sat down, I turned to Dylan, who sat behind me.
"How about we make a deal?" I asked him. "You don't talk to me or ever bother me and I will never talk to you?" Dylan laughed and said "Whatever you say."
Class began and Mr. Palmer started teaching the quadratic formula.
After class ended, I left and went to Science, which bored me, as always. Finally it was time for lunch, so I went to the cafeteria and picked up food, then went to the tree where I sat Monday. My friends and I talked until lunch ended, then the rest of the day passed in a blur. Blake took us all home and then I sat at the dining room table to do my homework.
The rest of the day was pretty average and so was the week that followed. Nothing truly exciting happened until the next week at lunch. English had been fun as always, math and science were terrible as always, but lunch was amazing. I was walking out to the usual spot when I got a text.
Luke<3: Hey Dakota, If you're not busy or whatever, I'm walking down to lunch at McDonalds across the street. Wanna come?
Trying not to reply too quickly, I slowly typed Sure, where do you wanna meet?
I read it over a thousand times and confirmed it was good. I texted my friends then telling them and they said I could leave as long as I gave them a full description later in PE. I agreed, made the plans, then met up with Luke at the front.
He nodded when he saw me and we walked to McDonalds together, sharing random facts about ourselves. We gorged on a ton of great food and laughed for what felt like hours but was more like 35 minutes in reality.
I was having a lot of fun, and was sad when we noticed the bell was about to ring and walked back.
Before we got to the school he said "So, I had a lot of fun. Maybe we can hang out again sometime?"
I agreed, of course, and we parted as we headed to the next class. The rest of that day passed in a blur, and all I remembered was his gorgeous teeth and smile as he laughed in front of me.
