I began to get ready, still upset that Dylan had sorta won our fight. I looked in my closet and spent an hour trying on different things. Finally, I found the perfect outfit.
I threw on the black dress I picked out and spun around a few times smiling. I couldn't wait. As much as I hated that my brothers would have to meet Luke, I was also a little glad that they would, and that Luke wanted to meet them so much. I mean, we had only gone out a little, but I felt like I'd known him for years.
I didn't go downstairs until a few minutes before he was coming because I knew they would hate my outfit. It was a little short and the lace was a little showy but I knew Luke would like it.
I walked downstairs and bumped into Talen. He checked out my outfit. "Wow, Kota, you look so pretty," he said, sweetly. "Thanks."I said giving a spin. "What are the odds that Dylan, Nick, and Blake would kill me?" I asked, laughing.
He chuckled and said "Oh, I don't know, they might not. If you're nice and they're in an insanely good mood."
I rolled my eyes and decided to just face it. We walked into the room together.
"Are you all ready?" I asked, looking around at them, from under my lashes, a little scared.
Dylan stood up and said "You are not wearing that!"
Blake stood up too and I looked up at him questioningly. He said "Kota, you look beautiful." I smiled hugely and hugged him.
Dylan said "What? You're supporting this? She looks like a -"
Nick cut him off. "She looks great." I went over and hugged him too.
Dylan glared and said "Fine, let's do this." Then a smile appeared on his face. What did he have planned? Then, I heard the doorbell ring.
I sprinted to the door and heard my brothers chuckling behind me. I opened the door and saw Luke, wearing a gorgeous blue collared shirt and nice jeans. He held out a single rose he brought for me. I held it close and said "Hi." His eyes raked my outfit all the way to my painted toes and I blushed. He then said "You look beautiful." I blushed again and invited him in. As I pulled open the door, I backed up and ran into Blake's chest with my head. He looked down at me and smirked at my embarrassment. He then pushed me aside and shook Luke's hand.
"Nice to meet you Luke." he said politely.
Luke shook his hand and said "Same to you, sir." I could see Blake straighten up and then say "You can call me Blake." He then introduced Luke to the whole family and they all shook hands. Then we all walked over to the dining room, and Blake served the meal, steak and broccoli, along with buttered rolls. Luke sat next to me and I encouraged him by grabbing his hand under the table. Dylan sat across from us and started speaking "So! Luke, you like our little baby Kota?" I shot him a look and he just smiled back. Luke answered, "Yes, I do like Dakota." while I blushed more. Man there would be a lot of that tonight, wouldn't there?
"Well you know," Dylan said, "She was even funnier than she is now when she was a kid though! For instance, did she tell you about the time I just began high school and she was only in 5th grade?" Luke shook his head no. I sighed, I knew where this was going. "Well, I had just started football and Kota came to one of my games. She was so upset that I was playing and not talking to her that she ran onto the field and just started screaming. During the game. Until of course, Blake ran on and got her." he said, laughing. I looked down shyly and Luke slyly rubbed his thumb in a circle on my hand.
"Aww thats adorable." he said. "I guess" Dylan said, frowning, he was going for embarrassing. Then, the boys all began telling stories about me except for Blake, who just interjected at certain points. Throughout it all, Luke just stayed calm and kept holding my hand and laughing. It was very sweet. Finally, we all finished dinner and Dylan said "Hey, Luke! Before you leave, why don't you come see some cute pictures of Kota as a baby?" My eyes grew huge and I shook my head at Dylan. He just laughed.
Luke looked to me, then agreed when I bowed my head in defeat. We all sat on the couch and Dylan opened up my scrapbook. He pointed out many pictures to Luke while my face remained constantly flushed.
One was of me falling out of a bathtub, one was of me trying to crawl out of my crib and failing, one was me coming home from school when it rained and I was fully soaked, one was me falling into the toilet, trying to be grownup, and then Dylan said "This is my favorite."
He flipped the page and pointed to my least favorite picture on EARTH.
It was a picture of me at about five years old, wearing Blake's boxers, with a huge thumbs up, with Dylan standing next to me laughing.
I still remembered wearing them to try to look older and having Dylan mock me by making me take a picture. It was definitely one of my most embarrassing moments. And now everyone was laughing, and Luke was practically in tears just like Dylan. My face felt permanently red. After a minute or two, Blake stood up and everyone followed suit, as we led Luke to the door. The boys said good bye and so did I. Then, Luke asked if I could go outside with him for a second and Blake let me. I think he liked Luke.
I walked outside and Luke and I stood on the porch area.
"Thanks for inviting me tonight! I loved meeting your brothers." he said, chuckling.
"I loved having you here." I said, being a little forward and taking his hand in my own.
He raised an eyebrow and then leaned over to me and pressed his lips against my cheek. They were warm and left a permanent imprint on me. I smiled hugely and he smiled back. Then, we stared into each others eyes for a second. He then heard a beep from his moms car so he paused then left and waved goodbye. I walked inside and couldn't contain my smile.
My brothers were waiting with their arms crossed and matching smirks. Dylan and Talen made kissing noises and Blake grabbed me in a hug/headlock.
"Thank you for everything!" I told him, looking up."'Whatever." he said, but I knew he was pleased that Luke was somewhat nice and not a murderer and all. Although I knew he would never admit it! Dylan then said "What about me?" I turned to him and my eyes shrunk to slits again. "You." I said with rage. My other brothers chuckled. "Did you have to tell him every single embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me?!?!" I yelled. Dylan laughed, leaned down to my height, and said with a smirk "What are you gonna do about it?"
I walked up to him, smirked myself, and said "I'm gonna do this." And that is when I punched him in the stomach.
