A Day in My Life

Gone

The next morning I woke up sad. Emma and Eric were planning on leaving today. Eric, was no great loss, but Emma I would definitely miss. Borrowing her clothes was only one of the great things about having her here. When I got up, I ran over to Emma's spot on my floor and plopped onto her air mattress. I was lying across her when she woke up tired.

"Dakota?" she asked. "What are you doing?"

"Missing you already." I said with a dramatic sigh.

She laughed and said "I know, I'll miss you too. But we have to go because our dad is coming back today."

"Fine." I said, standing up. She stood too and together we packed up her stuff. "Maybe I'll come visit again this break for like an hour or something." she said, rubbing my arm.

"Whatever, enjoy your break." I said, lamely.

We walked downstairs with her stuff quietly, because it was still early. Blake was planning on driving Eric and Emma down alone, and I decided I would come with. They had all their stuff so Emma and I got into the car to wait. Soon, Blake came out and hopped into the front seat.  

Then Eric put his stuff in the trunk and sat next to me in the back, so I was between him and Emma.

"Why aren't you sitting in the front?" I asked, looking at the front seat. 

"Because I can't spend enough time with you." he said, sarcastically. However, he offered no real explanation for his reasoning.  I fake blew him a kiss. 

We started driving and I eventually got all cramped. I put my feet up on Emma and laid back onto Eric's shoulder. They both allowed it until we got there. Then they got out of the car, said goodbye, and double-checked that I had their numbers so I could text them if I needed to. I hopped in the front seat on the way back and mostly just slept since i woke up early. 

When we got back home, everyone was sitting down on the couch or having breakfast. 

The second we got in the door, Dylan ran over to Blake with Nick right behind him.

They both started speaking immediately. 

"Dude!- Almost New Years- DOPE!- And if we - need to- be great- a party!" They said. 

"Good to see you too, guys." I said, patting them both on their chests. They ignored me and kept talking. 

Blake said "Hold up. What are you asking exactly?" 

They both began again until Dylan angrily slapped his hand over Nicks mouth and kept it there. 

"We wanna throw a New Years Party in a few days." Dylan said. 

Blake thought about it and said "Hmmmmm...."

Dylan and Nick each added some points to convince him. 

"It would be amazing."

"And there could be some drinks maybe." 

"And you could invite Aubrey." Nick said, with a small smile.

Blake's eyes lit a little and I knew he didn't need a few minutes to think, but he used them anyways. 

Then he said "I guess, we could maybe, have a little, small party with a few friends." 

They smiled hugely, thanked him, and went off to plan for it. 

I followed behind them and said "Can I invite Luke?"

Dylan said "No."

I said "What?"

Nick said "Who said you were invited anyways Kota?"

"I'm not invited to a party at my own house?" I asked, incredulously. 

"We'll see." Nick said, patting my head. 

I brushed them off and said "If your idiot friends and girlfriend or whatever can come then I am coming. And you can't stop me."

Blake walked in and said "Guys, Come on, Dakota and Luke are invited."

Dylan said "Fine. Lucky you had your big brother to protect you!"

"You're my big brother too, moron." I said. 

"Oh, yeah." he said, disappointed, as if he was reminded. I left the boys to plan more with an eye roll and walked upstairs.
