Talen's POV:
It was 1AM and all was going well. I had met a super sweet girl named Amy and we had been dancing for hours now.
"So can I have your number?" I asked, handing my phone to her.
"Sure!" she said, blushing and looking slightly away. She grabbed my phone and put her number in.
"Great!" I said, taking it back.
Suddenly a song came on that I vaguely recognized.
She opened her mouth, gasping. "This is MY SONG!" she yelled, bouncing up and down. I grabbed her hand with a smile and led her to the front area next to the speakers. We danced through it all and I couldn't stop laughing at her huge smile and big eyes. We spun in a circle until I saw the front door of the house slam open. Then, Eric walked in. My jaw dropped open, what was he doing here??? I regretfully told Amy I had to leave, family emergency, and went over to him.
I walked over to him and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned to me with his teeth clenched and fist pulled back.
"Ahh stop!" I said, flinching back. "It's just me!"
He kind of chuckled at my reaction to him then his face went blank again. He began to walk further around until I grabbed his shoulder. "What's wrong?" I said.
Eric said "Luke and Kota had a fight. And they began making out and then I think something worse happened. I think Luke like came onto her when she said no or something. So, I'm gonna teach him a lesson." he said, cracking his knuckles. My jaw dropped in outrage.
He kept walking, searching the crowd as I followed behind him. He turned around when he noticed. "What do you want?" he asked. "I'm coming with you." I saw, squaring my jaw. "Um, look kid, that's sweet and all but I don't want to have to worry about you or anything." He kept walking and I followed still. He turned around again. "Look, I'm not 5 anymore, Eric!" I protested. "I'm almost your height, pretty strong, and I know what he looks like." He checked me out. "Hmmm. I guess." he accepted, walking forward. I told him what Luke looked like exactly and tried not to smile.
We searched the house top to bottom and couldn't find him anywhere. At that point, we were both super angry and could've easily beaten a pro wrestler.
"That's it!" Eric yelled.
He continued "He must've left, I'm going to his house."
"I'm coming with you." I said, following him out to the font yard. Suddenly, I saw Luke. I grabbed Eric's shirt and pointed to him.
"That's him?" he confirmed. I checked him over. Yup, that was him. I nodded.
He stood talking to a friend, with beer in his hand. Eric stormed over and I followed behind a ways. Eric got closer and when he was only a foot away he swung out a fist and slammed it into his jaw. Luke turned to him in utter surprise "What the hell?" he yelled, grabbing at his face. "Who the fuck are you?"
Eric said "I'm Dakota's cousin, you piece of shit." He grabbed his shirt and punched him in the gut, knocking him a few feet back, onto his knees. I stood behind him. Luke turned to me in shock as people began to circle us. "Talen? Talen, tell your idiot cousin to lay off!" he said. "I don't think so." I said, coming closer then shoving him back to the ground as he began to stand up.
People standing nearby formed a circle and called people who were inside to join them. We were suddenly surrounded by party goers who began chanting. "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!" They repeated. Luke stood up and then lunged at Eric, clipping him in the chin. Eric stepped back and then shot an undercut, knocking him back a couple feet. Luke then turned to me and swung, hitting me in the eye. I tried not to yell as I grabbed my pulsing, probably black, eye. Eric said "Talen, step back. I got this." I stepped back angrily and Eric then punched Luke in the side of the head. Luke then darted behind Eric grabbing his arm and shoving it up. Eric grit his teeth and then jammed his head back into Luke's nose and spun around. They punched each other for a while until Luke fell to the ground, and struggled to get up. He eventually stood and Eric grabbed his shirt. Luke stepped back scared and Eric laughed. "Don't. Ever. Bother. Dakota. Again." he said, punctuating each word with a punch.
People cheered for him and eventually dispersed. Luke's friends ran over to him as we walked away. Eric and I went home after as I stared at him in amazement.
"You were amazing." I said, in shock.
"Don't sound so surprised." he said with a laugh. "But hey, you weren't terrible either." I rolled my eyes. "I basically got one hit in then stepped out." I said. "Yeah," he acknowledged, "but you were willing to fight him and you were pretty tough." I slightly smiled. We finally got home at maybe three AM.
"Hey, what're you doing tomorrow morning? Or I guess, this morning?" he asked, acknowledging the time.
"Nothing." I said immediately.
"Huh. Well I was thinking of going to the gym to practice some boxing. Wanna come with?" he offered.
"Sure!" I said.
"Cool."
After we got inside, I went to my room, fell asleep, and the next morning Eric woke me up early. We headed to the gym which was only a block away and went into a private room. We warmed up and then Eric tossed me some boxing gloves. He chuckled for a second after watching me and I asked him what was so funny. He answered "I tried to teach Kota some of this once." "How did it work?" I asked. "She sucks." he said, laughing. "Hopefully you'll be better." For the next few hours he trained with me, teaching me some powerful moves. We practiced against the punching bags for a while and Eric actually taught me some. Afterwards, we showered and left. We went home and then went through the front door. Eric said "Great job fighting. This morning and last night." We smiled at each other and then saw the family sitting on the couch. "Hey guys!" I called out. They looked up surprised.
I turned to Dakota.
"By the way, Kota, your problem is taken care of."
"What problem?" she asked, looking up at me.
"Your Luke problem." Eric said, smiling at her.
