The Matterhorn passed and I found that although it was bumpy and annoying, it wasn't too much to handle. When I got off, Dylan smiled at me and I tried to keep from jumping up and down. But Go me!! So adult it hurt.

After finishing on that one, we headed over to Haunted Mansion where I ended up waiting in line and preparing to ride with Nick. He was willing to protect me and his fun facts about the ride were actually interesting and distracting enough that I wasn't terrified. That is, until...

"Did you know that some families sneak their deceased loved ones ashes into the park and sprinkle them here?" Nick told us all. Taylor and Talen looked at each other with equal disgust and I matched it quickly.

"Ewwwwww why would anyone do that??" I asked, looking carefully around us. What if the dirt we walked over on the path here was partially AN OLD HUMAN?

"They say they want them to join the ghosts on the ride. So... they're definitely real." Nick said in an eerie quiet voice.

My mouth dropped open in shock but when the others laughed I knew that wasn't the proper reaction. I forced a chuckle and leaned over to Blake as we moved forward.

"He was kidding right?" I asked him in a hushed voice so nobody else could hear.

"Of course." he said, scoffing. I sighed in relief and smiled as we got to the elevator part. After that, we headed into our seats and went through the cool darkness. I looked at all the ghosts and turned to see Nick smiling evilly at me. I smacked him and he laughed loudly, echoing through the darkness. The ride swiveled so we could see the dancing ghosts in the large room and then suddenly we froze. There was a coffin with a hand trying to pull itself out only feet in front of us. It was still moving.

I looked at Nick with widened eyes, asking him a question.

"Told you it was haunted." he said with a cocky smirk even Dylan would be jealous of.

I tried not to let out a scream and waited for the "All clear" normally heard over the sound system when rides stopped. Nothing came.

I began to get colder and colder so I wrapped my arms around myself and shook a little. Nick leaned over and said "You know that cold you feel?"

I nodded and looked up at him questioningly.

"That's the ghosts spirits passing into your body." he finished. My mouth dropped open terrified and I screamed, loud enough for Blake, who was in a neighboring cart to groan loudly and say "NICK! What did you do?"

Nick laughed and said "Nothinggg, I got this." And laughed hard. I kept shaking and panicking until suddenly the ride started again and I sighed with relief. Nick threw an arm over my shoulder for warmth but I just glared and sat rigidly so it slipped off the back of my shoulders.

I eyed all of the ghosts we saw on the ride questioningly but none attacked or did anything other than their eerie and somehow adorable dance. Still.

At the end, he grabbed my hand and pulled me off and into the outside warm area, so we could wait for the others.

He leaned down to my height and said "Come on, Kota, you know I was just joking!"

I actually didn't know and hearing him say this meant a lot. "Jerk." I said, nodding my head once at him and turning my face away. He grabbed my chin and pulled it back towards him to look at his eyes and said "I'm sorry okay! What if I buy you some popcorn to make up for it?"

Honestly the sorry was enough for me but now that popcorn was involved there was no way I was telling him that.

I said "You can buy it for me and I'll consider forgiving you, I suppose."
