MARISSA POV:
"I hate it here." She said without any kind of emotion besides sadness in her voice and eyes.
"Why?"
"Because, I have no privacy, I have no friends, they don't even let me do what I want to do whenever I'm bored, I just have to do something in my room but there is nothing to do. I just hate this place." She looked down.
"I know baby but listen to me, you wanna get better huh?-" She nodded. "Then don't be so stubborn. I have been in your position, I know what it feels like to be this alone and having to face your fears, but look at me now. I'm doing fantastic, I got a job, I got a beautiful daughter, I got amazing friends and family, that all wouldn't have happened if I didn't work so hard to get better. Try it Sam. Do it for yourself and for me and Demi. You have to get better and I can't help you with that. You have to do it yourself. I love you." I said.
"Thank you. I appreciate this. Can I now ask you something?" She asked.
"Sure."
"What were you here for?"
Here it comes. The truth. I have never talked about this to anyone besides Demi and it's the hardest thing I've ever done.
"When I was your age I got diagnosed with depression, bulimia disorder and anxiety. Demi told my family about everything and they sent me to this place. I had to stay here for about 7 months and then go back to face reality." I looked at our hands once she held mine really tight.
"I'm so sorry mom." She looked down. "It's okay honey." We hugged and then Demi came back. "I got you a coffee-" she handed me the coffee. "And you a glass of water." She handed Sammie the water.
"So I talked to your nurse again, and she said if you'd eat well the next 1.5 months you're free to go home. But they also have to do a check on you first to see if you're healthy and doing well mentally." Demi spoke up. "Baby that's so great. Please work for it." I almost begged her.
She looked me into the eyes and then Demi. "I won't disappoint you ever again. I promise." We both hugged her and then it was time to say goodbye.
SAMMIE POV:
"I'm going to miss you baby." Marissa said as she hugged me. "I'm gonna miss you too mom but I promise I'll try my best."
She walked to the hallway to wait for Demi.
"I'm gonna miss you and your lips." She said, I giggled. "I'm gonna miss you too Dems. But you do have 4 upcoming concerts in the next 2 weeks right?" I asked and she nodded. "Just enjoy it babe. I'll be fine."
She kissed me one last time and then walked back to Marissa. Back to home.
I miss being home. I miss waking up to my girlfriend. I miss getting downstairs smelling my mom's breakfast. I miss taking long shower. I miss hanging with Dinah. I miss hanging with Nick. I miss being able to kiss my girlfriend whenever I want to, I miss having girl nights with my mom, I miss home.
But reality just hit me. I am in here. Everyone is out there living their daily routine. But I am stuck in here.
I just want to get better.
I took a pencil and a paper and sat down on the chair.
"Home is where your heart belongs. It gives you a feeling of safety and love. Home is where you're surrounded with the people you love. With the things you love.
Music is like heaven, but ten times better. It gives you a feeling of safety and love, just like home. Music is home.
Family. Family is worth gold. Family are people who would take a bullet for you. Family is home."
I drew a small painting next to the text till I heard someone walking towards my room. I was just about to step out to check who it was once Michelle and some other girl walked in.
"Alexia, this is your room mate Sammie, Sammie, this is Alexia." Michelle said.
"Hey you doing alright?" I asked her once I saw her drifting off.
She soon fell onto the ground but didn't pass out so I sat down in front of her and tried to match her breathing with mine.
"Match my heart beat Alex, calm down everything is alright." I said and soon enough she calmed down a little. I got her into her bed and grabbed her bags from the reception.
"Hey I got you your bags, should I just put them here? That's your closet." I pointed at her closet. It's small but it's temporary so that's why.
Usually people stay here for around 4 months. But some people stay for almost a whole year.
"Thank you for being so nice. It means a lot." She finally managed to get out. She hasn't spoken a word ever since she came here. "No problem. Maybe you should just get some rest. I'll wake you in an hour for dinner." She nodded and tried to sleep.
"Hey Sammie could you come to my office for a second?" Anna asked me and then took my hand to come with her.
"I just want to thank you for what you did today. It really amazed me how good you are to others while you're in such a bad state yourself." She said. I'm not sure if I should take it as a compliment but I did.
"Thank you Anna. Oh by the way could I talk to Nurse Luna for a little?" I asked her. "Yeah sure follow me." She took my hand again and let me into Luna's office. "Hey Luna is it alright if Sammie comes in? She wants to talk to you." Anna asked her. "Yeah sure."
"Hey Sammie. Sit down." I sat down and stared at her. "What's up?" She asked. "I want to talk with you about Marissa again."
"Sammie I already told you I can't tell you why she was he-" I stopped her. "I already know why she was in rehab. I just, I think there's more behind it. From the moment we got here she had that anxious look in her eyes as if something terrible has happened in here. Today she came to visit me and it was still there." I said.
"Some people just have throwbacks to hard times when they get here. It's something personal." She told me. "But Demi went here too and she's fine with going here."
"That's not the same. People don't always handle it the same way as Demi does."
"But I know there's more behind it Luna." I said as I tried to stay calm.
"Maybe you should go back to your room."
"No."
"Yes."
Silence.
"Tell me." I finally said after a long silence.
"When Marissa got into rehab, she was really loved by everyone. Once people got to know her they started to dislike her because of her religion, age and her looks. They knew exactly how to hurt her, physically and mentally. Marissa tried to keep herself together during her recovery but it was just twice as hard for her and she had to leave rehab and go to another one because it was that bad." Luna told me.
"Marissa got bullied?!"
