Maya's POV
The walk home from Lucas and Zay's was relaxing. The air was crisp: cool but warm enough that I wasn't freezing. It was one of those picturesque days where the sun is shining, the air is crispy and refreshing, and there were colorful leaves all around. Some were red, some were orange, and some were yellow. I watched a few flutter to the ground as the wind blew a small gust.
When I finally reached the steps of my apartment, I took a deep breath. I felt sick to my stomach. I didn't wanna tell Riley why I was upset, but I also knew that I couldn't keep this up much longer. Especially after I told Zay everything with the baby. And I trusted Zay, but I also knew he wasn't the best liar. Plus, it is about time that I stop shutting out my best friend and that I tell her the truth.
But I just needed one last night: me and my friends. Because after I tell Riley and eventually everyone else. Who knows if there is even going to be an us.
