Josh's POV

The intro's of the wedding party into the reception went by seamlessly. Even Rachel and Jack managed to freestyle a funny leapfrog intro despite being too out of the loop to realize it was an unspoken requirement in the wedding world.

Following behind the wedding party, were the guests of honor: Cory and Topanga. Cory guided Topanga into the ballroom section and twirled her around before placing a sweet and tender kiss upon her forehead.

The brother side of me was definitely a little grossed out, but a greater part of me was aching to have that of my own: my own Topanga.

I feel a greater force pull my eyes over to Maya's direction beside me, but I looked away quickly.

Never in my life have I ever let any other girl consume this much of my thoughts as Maya Hart has. And it wasn't as though I didn't have other things to think about or worry about or admire. It's just that anytime I was in the same room as her, or talking to her, going to see her, or coming from seeing her, it was nearly impossible to focus on anything else.

A clinking of a champagne glass dragged me from my thoughts. Despite having heard a million of these in the last week, I picked up my flute full of the bubbly liquid, gripping it tightly in my hand.

Despite my best effort to focus intently on Cory and Topanga's speech to their guests and each other, my mind only picked up a few words every so often. However, upon hearing them talk about family and what it means to be one, my eyes sympathetically drifted over to Lucas.

A boy whose life was a lie. A mystery. The moment he finds out the truth, his whole life will be flipped upside down.

Feeny always said, that the truth has a way of coming out. And even if it is not the easiest thing to do, it is the right thing to do. Because at the end of the day, it is unfair to withhold a truth from a person, especially when it is one that has the ability to affect their entire lives.

If I didn't know any better, I would've thought that Feeny was foreshadowing this very moment.

As I peel my eyes from their fixed hold on Lucas, I turn to notice the longing look on Rachel's face as she too was looking at Lucas.

With an already loose focus on the spiel Cory and Topanga were going on about, my attention shifts to the light tapping of heels right outside the ballroom. Everyone else was too engaged in the words of the happy couple who had just renewing their vows to love and marriage to notice the pitter-pattering of the shoes.

I crane my head to the side and follow the black and gold studded heels up to an unfamiliar face.

It was a girl, in what I presume are her early 20s, with dark brownish, reddish short, curled hair. She wore a tight, gold dress and an infectious smile.

The two of us made eye contact, and she began to blush.

"I'm sorry!" she mouthed, noticing that her clanking shoes had made a scene.
