Maya's POV

Lucas ran for his life. I knew he was fast, but I never realized that he could run that fast. I guess that whole elevator pitch was not only motivation for Smackle and I, but it was a bit of motivation for him too--he not only didn't wanna kiss Smackle, but he also valued his life apparently.

The cold wind whipped against me as I ran as fast as I could. I could feel my cheeks turn rosy and even a little hot. After an intense couple of minutes running, we finally reached the bar. Lucas first and then Smackle and I shortly behind him. I stopped just outside the entrance and leaned on my knees for support; I couldn't breathe.

Fuck asthma.

I squinted my eyes up at the bright sign that "The Savage." Focus Maya. Breathe. Come on you can do it.

"Maya are you coming?" Smackle turned back to me.

I held up a finger to signal to them to give me one second.

"A little out of shape, Hart?" Lucas joked.

I managed to pick up my middle finger.

"Shit. Maya, are you okay?" Smackle ran over to me.

I just nodded.

Lucas followed behind Smackle. "What are you doing?" she asked.

"Helping?" he looked confused.

"Go get her some water, asshole," Smackle laughed.

My breathing started to regulate as I took deep, controlled breaths. Smackle helped hold me up. Lucas came back a minute later with a cup of water in his hand. "Here," he said handing me the cup.

"Thanks," I struggled to say in between breaths.

"I didn't know you had asthma?" he looked surprised.

"Yea, well now you do?" I sassed him.

"Alright. It's game time," I said, crushing the plastic water cup in my hands and tossing it on the ground.

Smackle and I started to walk into the bar when we noticed that Lucas was picking up the crushed water cup to throw it out. We stopped and waited for him to join us.

"You just had to be a tree hugger didn't you?" I smiled at him and threw my arms around him and Smackle.

"Ha Ha," he gave me a knowing look.

"Okay so what's first?" I took out the sheet of paper from my back pocket again.

"I'll go grab us some drinks while you guys talk it over," Lucas offered.

"What do you think?" I asked Smackle.

"How about this? You kiss a stranger, Lucas can propose to someone, and I will eat spoonful of hot sauce. I think they have that at the tables," Smackle suggested.

"How come you get to do the hot sauce and I have to kiss a stranger?" I pouted.

"Because you're the only single one. And my Filipino blood can handle all that hot sauce," she winked. "Unless that is that you're not single." Smackle gasped.

"No, no. I am very much single. Trust me."

"Okay. What did we decide girls?" Lucas handed us each a Savage Specialty.

"I kiss a stranger, you propose, and Smackle eats the hot sauce," I reiterated for Lucas.

"Don't forget that you two are signed up for karaoke and should be going on in about 20-30 min," Lucas smirked.
