Katie's POV

"Hayley may never taste food again. When she was hit, her throat was damaged and if she swallows food, she will choke because her throat isn't as strong and is crooked, so she has to have a feeding tube. We will do the surgery later tonight.

"On top of that, she's going to have a blood transfusion shortly, she broke her elbow and her ankle, and she sprained her neck. She will have two casts and a neck brace. We will take her to the hospital orthopedist tomorrow for the casts. Also, they are the luckiest children we've ever seen in a bad car accident. Annie and Hayley's guardian angels must have been nearby," The doctor said. *CALEBBB*

"Okay," we both said sadly.

Annie started waking up.

"Mommy? Is that you?" She said wearily.

"Yes honey!" I said.

"I've missed you so much!" she said as we both started to cry.

"I'm going to see if Hayley is up," Sarah said.

"Okay. Let us know if she is," I said.

"How bad is Hayley?" Annie asked.

"Well, Hayley damaged her thoat, and she can't swallow food, so she has to get a feeding tube. On top of that, she broke her ankle and elbow, and she sprained her neck. She's having a blood transfusion now," I said.

Hayley's POV

I slowly opened my eyes and I saw bright light everywhere. There's a machine with. . . blood in it? Connected to me? I'm in the hospital?!

I saw Sarah out walking out towards the door of my room.

"Wait!" I said with a voice crack.

"Oh hey, you're up!" she said, "I have a special someone for you. I'll be right back!" She left and a nurse came in.

"Would you like to sit up?" She asked.

"Yeah," I said.

She pressed a button near my bed and the bed moved up at the top so I could sit without having to move. I notice that my left arm has a splint, and I think my left leg has a splint too because I can feel it. My neck also feels a bit stiff and it hurts. The doctor comes in at the same time Sarah does. Wait a minute, that's my mom with Sarah!!!

"MOMMY!" I yelled and mommy hugged me and we didn't let go for a good minute.

Then, the doctor talked to me.

"Hey Hayley! I'm just going to say, your guardian angel was nearby, because you and your sister were the luckiest victims we've ever had from being run over by a car. So, you lost a lot of blood, and you've probably noticed that iv in your arm. We're getting more blood into you now. Also, you broke your elbow and ankle, and you sprained your neck," The doctor said.

He put a neck brace thing on me, then I talked to my mom for an hour or so and Sarah got Annie into a wheelchair so we could all be in the same room until they put Annie's bed in here. Then, Annie and I both went to sleep.

*two hours passed*

I'm half awake and I'm rolling down the hallway on a bed. I see the words 'operating room' overhead. I see a nurse put a mask on me and I was out.

*next morning*

We had been up for an hour, and I started to get hungry.

"Mommy? What did I have surgery for last night? Also, I'm a little hungry," I said.

"I must have forgot to tell you yesterday. Well, umm, your throat was damaged. You had to get a port for, uh, a feeding tube," Mom said nervously.

My semi happy expression dropped. I felt like crying, but I held it in.

I guess I'll never taste candy again...

A doctor came into the room.

"I'm going to guess that you're hungry, Hayley. Right?" She said.

"Yeah," I said.

"Let my show you how to hook it up," she said. She left, and she came back holding a bag of brown liquid and a tube.

"First, you put the tube into your port. Next, you unscrew the cap on the food bag. Lastly, you connect the bag to the tube. You will slowly start to fill up." She gave me the instructions while hooking it up.

Surely enough, five minutes later, the bag was empty and I was full. She showed me how to disconnect it and clean it.

"I forgot to say, but you can still drink anything you want, except smoothies and milkshakes because those are thicker. You can also chew gum and eat mints, but be sure not to swallow them," The doctor said.
