Annie's POV

My kids are helping me blow up the balloons at the baby shower. We have an hour before the party starts and Allie arrives.

"Done!" Luca shouted as he finished blowing up the last balloon.

"Awesome! Can you take them over to your dad so he can tie them on the stairs?" I asked him.

"Sure!" He replied, grabbing the balloons by the strings. Abbie and Sapphire took some as well and headed towards the kitchen.

We decided to throw the baby shower at my mom's house. It's still January so we obviously can't have it outside.

I walked over to the gift table and made sure that the gifts already there were neat. My and Hayden's gift, Hayley and Ryan's, the triplets', and our parents gifts were already there. Allie has said it's a strict no-no about her birth parents being there, so we didn't invite them. I did reach out to Allie's parents just letting them know that she was having a baby. Her dad replied to the email and said he was happy for her, and her mom didn't reply, but I didn't expect her to. She hasn't replied to any form of communication from Allie or me or Allie's other parents in the past six years.

Anyway, Allie's dad sent her a gift in the mail, but mailed it to me because Allie would've thrown it away if she knew whom it was from.

When I opened the package, I nearly cried. There was a note with the blanket and onesie inside.

Hey Allie,

I know you hate me, and that's understandable. I'm not asking you to love me or even like me. What you think of me is your choice.

This package, I thought you should have these. The blanket was your favorite until you were four, then you became obsessed with all things cats. The onesie is the first thing me and your mom bought for you. Well, we actually bought it for your older sister first, and handed it down to you. But your sister is a story for another time. (Email me about her).

I hope your baby gets the best home possible, but I already know they will. You're going to be a great mom.

I'm not going to give Allie this gift until the party is over because who knows how she'll react. I just hope she loves it. It's clear that her father loves and misses her, but he respects her and is leaving her alone until she wants to talk to him. Either that's some reverse psychology, or he really has changed and is ready to be the great birth dad she wishes she had. He's probably changed.

"Three, two, one!"

Allie and Quinn opened the box and watched as green balloons flew out of the box.

"It's a boy!" I announced.

Allie squealed with joy. Quinn looked pretty happy for her best friend.

Since Allie didn't have a baby daddy to open the box with her, she wanted Quinn to.

Everyone had cake, then Allie began to open gifts. She loved them all. Most people guessed that Allie would have a girl, so most of the baby clothes she was gifted were feminine, but Allie didn't care. I've noticed over the years that she doesn't give a flying doughnut about gender roles.

After the party was over and there was only family and Quinn still at the house, I pulled Allie aside while everyone else cleaned up.

"Hey, can I talk to you for a second?" I asked.

I sat her down on the bed in the guest room.

"Yeah, what's up?" She said.

I took the package and handed it to her.

"This is from your dad. Just open it. It's a really sweet gift," I told her.

Allie gave me a very annoyed glare, then opened the gift, reading the letter aloud in a mocking tone. She got to the second paragraph, and her voice softened. She read the part about her sister twice, trying to understand it.

"I have a sister?!" She gasped.

"Apparently so," I told her.

She hugged me and kind of started crying. I could see in her eyes that she was conflicted about contacting her dad though.

Ok so I've got a ton of upcoming plots for this book, but there's going to be quite the timeskip (probably a seven year one) coming up after this currently plot mainly starring Allie lol
