Madison's POV

I was woken up in the back of a car by a booming voice.

"Get out, and don't try to run," The voice said.

I looked up and realized it was a man's voice. I couldn't see his face clearly, but I could tell he was tall. I noticed a hammer in his hand, and got out quickly. I watched Skai, Annie, Hayley, Charlie, and Ginger-May get out behind me.

"Come this way," He said, leading us in the back door of a house.

We walked inside, and he lead us straight down the stairs to the basement. We went down the hallway and the man shoved us in a room with no windows and barely any light. The stone floor made the room feel colder, making us feel more scared.

"Where do you guys think we are?" I asked.

"I don't know," Ginger and Hayley said at the same time.

"I hope he doesn't hurt us," Annie said. I could see her clenching her fists.

"He will and it's not fun," A small voice said.

"Where are you?" Annie asked, looking around.

"I'm in the corner," The voice said.

We all focused on the small figure in the corner. The girl was curled up into a ball.

"I'm Allie Jade," She said. "I'm only six years old. I was really smart in school until I was thrown in here. I don't go to school anymore. My daddy isn't nice."

"Wait, the man who kidnapped us is your dad?" Annie asked, surprised.

"Yeah. He wasn't nice before mommy left about three months ago, and now he is worse," Allie said.

"Oh wow—" Hayley started.

"Shut up you stupid kids! And Allie, stop telling them stuff and being such an *******!" The man said as he came into the dark, empty room.

He picked up Allie and took her out of the room. We saw a quick glimpse of her light brown hair, freckles, and blue eyes. The door shut, and we heard a scream. About a minute later, Allie was thrown back into the room, crying.

Annie's POV

"Allie, what did he do to you?" I asked.

"H-h-he threw m-me across t-the room!" Allie said, crawling towards me and sitting on my lap.

"Oh no! Are you hurt?" I asked, going into babysitter mode.

"Yeah. M-my arm hurts really bad,"
She said, laying her head on my chest. I stroked her hair.

"Show me where," I said. She stretched out her right arm and pointed to her wrist. Even though it was pretty dark, I could see that her wrist was pointing in a direction it shouldn't be able to.

"I tried to stop my fall with my hand but landed on it," She sobbed.

"Okay. Don't try to move it," I told her. "Hayley, do you still have your jacket?" I asked.

"Yeah. Here." She tossed the jacket to me.

I tied a sling around Allie and carefully put her arm in it. I made sure her wrist was supported.

"There. That should hold. I'll just make sure to untie it quickly if the guy comes in," I said to myself.

"What was your family like?" Allie asked me.

"Well, me and my little sister Hayley had a nice mommy and daddy and we had three dogs and a bunny. I do gymnastics and Hayley does dance," I said.

"That sounds nice. What about you?" Allie Jade asked, turning her head towards the foster kids.

"Uh. . . the four of us are sisters and we had a nice family too. All six of us are best friends," Charlie lied.

"That sounds cool. I never had friends. I only went to school for a few weeks but the other kids weren't nice to me," Allie said with a glum look on her face.

"We will be your friends," I said.

"Really?" She smiled.

"Yeah." I gave her a hug.

"What do friends do?" She asked.

"Uhh, you have a lot to learn," I said jokingly.

Katie's POV

I went home from the grocery store, the car silent, except for me talking to the police on the phone. When I had left the store, I saw six smoothie cups on the cafe bar, with six stools all pulled close together. I couldn't believe it, my daughters and foster daughters were missing. Billy was furious. We were just wondering, where could our kids be? We were responsible for them, after all. We could lose our fostering license for the four kids. They were so wonderful, I can barely imagine not having them anymore, even though they were only with us for a month.

Allie's POV

I miss my mommy but I don't really remember her that much. I was really lonely without her. And then my friends came! I got really happy when they came. The older girl was really nice and warm and friendly. I like her a lot. I like the other girls too, but Annie gives me hope. I learned that word when I went to school. I only went to school for a little bit, then mommy left and daddy took me out of school. I would always get locked in my room with no toys and only a few picture books and I only got a little bit of water every day and some crackers. Then a short while ago daddy didn't like it when I complained and he locked me in a room in the basement. I got even less food but the same cup of water. I didn't have anything to do so I would sleep, recite the stories mommy used to tell me from memory, and make up stories. Then the other girls came and I was a little happy again.

Then daddy threw me down the hallway and then picked me up by my hair and shoved me back into the room. My wrist really hurts and I really can't feel it or move it.

Annie's POV

Night time came upon us. Well, I wasn't too sure, but everyone started getting tired. We started to lay down when Allie stopped us.

"Wait friends! I have a big blanket!" Allie said, crawling over to the corner she was sitting in when we met her. She returned with a huge blanket.

"Thanks Allie!" We said.

"You're welcome," She said.

We all laid down on the cold floor with the blanket over us. The blanket was a little scratchy but it kept us warm. Allie cuddled up next to me, and I put my arms around her. Remembering the sling, I untied it and lifted up her head and folded the jacket like it was a pillow and placed it underneath her head. The little girl was breathing softly, her lips forming a slight smile. I smiled watching her. This was probably her first peaceful night in a long time.
