Abbie's POV
Mommy carried me as we walked down the side of the river. Luca was telling us about this crazy dream he had.
"We had an awesome pool party, and it was our sixth birthday! All our friends came! I brought Emmett and Ryder, Sapphire brought Sophie and Elisa, and Abbie brought Hannah and Angel. The pool had slides and diving boards and there was basketball hoops too! There was also a wave pool. So we went on the slides for a little while, then we all went in the wave pool and tried to jump over the waves."
"That party sounds fun!" I smiled.
"Yeah! Keep going!" Sapphire said.
"Okay. So, the machine thingy that makes the waves in the water stopped working. I went to behind the door where the machine is, but I saw a nether portal from Minecraft on the wall and a trapdoor on the floor. I went through the portal, and I was at school! But it was a big kid class, like maybe the second graders. Their teacher was teaching them about math. Then I went back through the portal and I opened the trap door. It looked like a ladder was there, so I went down. But I fell FROM THE SKY!!! I landed on this huge trampoline! But I couldn't get back up to you guys and I never saw you again," he finished.
"That was wild," I said.
Sapphire agreed.
"So, what else should we do?" She said.
"Maybe we could play I spy!" I suggested.
"Sure!" Luca said.
"I'll start. I spy with my little eye, something that is. . . blue!" Sapphire said.
"The water!" Luca shouted.
Sapphire shook her head.
"Uhh, auntie Allie's backpack!" I pointed.
"Yeah! You got that fast!" Sapphire smiled.
"Okay. I spy with my little eye, something that is brown!" I said. I picked Sapphire's hair.
"Is it that tree?" Luca pointed to one.
"Nope!"
"The dirt!"
"No!"
"What about that house!" Luca pointed across the river.
"I didn't even see that—"
"Wait! There's a house across there!" Ryan said.
"But we can't get across," Hayley said.
"Let's get their attention! Jayden, give me your glasses!" Daddy said.
Jay handed Daddy her black glasses she was wearing.
He stepped right into the sunlight and held the glasses out. There was a bright light that he shone in one of the windows of the house.
A few seconds later, two very irritated-looking girls stepped outside.
"Help! Our plane crashed!" Allie shouted really loud.
"Woah! How's your voice so loud?" I asked.
"It's my Cheer voice. Still comes handy in certain situations," she smiled.
The girls across the river seemed to understand.
"We'll come get you!" One shouted back.
They both went away for a little bit, then came back with two canoes.
Around ten minutes later, they had come over to our side. They stepped out of their canoes and pulled them up on the bank.
"You said your plane crashed?" One of them asked, shocked.
"Yes. We're the only survivors," Annie said.
"Oh my gosh," she said, "and what happened to this little one here?"
She looked at me.
"I'm five," I said.
She smiled.
"She dislocated her knee. We put it back in place since my sister is a nurse and knew how, but we haven't been able to do much more," mommy explained.
"Got it. Well, let's get all of you over. We can take two at a time in each canoe, but you have so much stuff that if you take a huge bag there can only be one other person in the canoe," she said.
"Okay. Well, I guess we'll figure out what order we're going in," Daddy said.
The adults decided that the kids should go first. Sapphire and Luca are going in one canoe, and Jayden and Georgia in the other. In Saph and Lucie's canoe, we were able to send a heavy bag because my siblings don't weigh too much.
Around fifiteen minutes later, the canoes returned. The people who went across were sitting near the shore.
Mommy and me went in one canoe, and Allie and JoJo went in the other.
Mommy sat in the back of the canoe and I sat in the middle. Daddy pushed our canoe out on the river. The first girl began to row us across.
"So, what's your names?" She asked.
Mommy opened her mouth but I answered for her.
"I'm Abbie and my mommy is Annie. Well, that's not her real name but it's what she likes to be called," I said.
Mommy laughed.
"Alrighty. Well, I'm Martine, and my girlfriend over there is Ava," she said.
"Wait, What middle school did you go to?" Mommy asked.
I looked back at her. She looked confused.
"Stratford Landing School in northern Virginia. Why?" Martine said.
"Oh my gosh. Martine Garrett?" Mommy gasped.
The girl stopped rowing for a few seconds.
"Annie Leblanc?!" She looked back and gasped.
"Wow, that's crazy! It's like a seventh grade reunion here!" Mommy exclaimed.
"Yeah. Again, I'm really sorry about what happened. I know you didn't exactly forgive me at first, and I definitely didn't have an okay reason to nearly get you killed, but I did have a reason for bullying what was practically the whole entire grade," Martine apologized.
"Wait? What happened?" I asked mommy.
"Remember how I told you the crazy story of how I grew up? Do you remember when I said that I got in a car accident?" Mommy asked me.
"Yeah," I said.
"She was the one that caused it. But don't worry, we're past that now. What happens in the past stays in the past," mommy explained.
"Ohhhh," I nodded.
"So anyway, what was the reason?" Mommy asked.
"I have issues with controlling anger, it's genetic, and that definitely didn't help that my parents were divorcing. I had to stay with my mom, but I was always a daddy's girl. I remember always arguing with my mom about why I couldn't go with my dad when he moved out," Martine started,
"Oh my gosh! Go on," mommy said.
"I soon found out why I couldn't go with him. Turns out, he had been dealing drugs to make extra money and didn't want to stop, which is the main reason why they divorced. But soon, my dad ended up in prison for that, and the addition of assisting in hiding a body when his friend committed murder. The murder was an act of self defense, but it was still unacceptable."
"That's really crazy. Wow." That was all mommy could say.
"Well, anyway, we're here," Martine said, rowing the canoe into the sandy shore.
We got out. Mommy picked me up in piggy back style again.
Around twenty minutes later, Ryan and Hayley's canoe came over, and so did daddy's.
