Chapter 26: promise

Colton's p.o.v

As I ran off the vision of what was to come played over and over in my head.

Fire.

Death.

Pain.

Over and over it played in my mind. I don't want it to happen. I will never let it happen. In order to do that I must win her heart back.

I burst through the trees and everyone is still doing the exact same things they were doing before I left. I looked around and saw all my friends sitting on the ground.

I slowly walk over to them and they all turn to me. I send them an awkward smile and divert my eyes to anything instead of Tessa.

"Can I join you guys?"

I ask them and they all look at one another.

"Sure."

Madelyn says as she scoots over a little. I smile and sit next to her. I wrap my arm around her shoulder and I can still feel the sparks. I can tell she still can as well by the way she leans into me.

"So what we're you all talking about?"

I ask them and Blaze sighs. I can tell my presence has a bad effect on them at the moment.

"What are you doing here cole?"

Jacob asks and I sigh. Man, I do that a lot, I sigh a lot. All of their eyes are on me as I think of what to say. I can't screw this up.

"Well I wanted to make amends with all of you. I wasn't thinking straight and I know the error of my ways. I want to ask your forgiveness and maybe we can all start over?"

I ask them and Jasmine looks at Jacob. Blaze looks at Tessa and Tessa back at him. Emma looks at Abe and
Abraham back at her.

"Colton you have my forgiveness but I can't speak for all of us. Blazs and Tessa along with Maddy, those are the main three you really want to forgive you."

Jaamine says with wisdom in her voice. I smile towards her and she smiles back.

"You have done wrong and I speak for myself when I say I forgive you. But Colton, don't take this for granted. I may not always forgive you."

Emma tells me and I smile as I look at the ground. I have two people forgiving me, that's pretty good.

"Forgiveness is a virtue I seemed to always have. I've forgiven you and I've forgotten what has been done in the past."

Jacob speaks out and i look up. I have an ear to ear smile and my eyes must have a happy glint in them.

"I don't let what people did in the past ruin what happiness could be earned in the future. Colton you have my forgiveness but those who will take more time still need to say your forgiven."

Abraham says and I look up from the ground.

"Thank you all for your forgiveness. Tessa, Blaze, Maddy will you forgive me?"

I ask the last three. I need all of their forgiveness and I need Madelyn's heart.

"Cole you didn't personally hurt me like you did Blaze and Maddy. I forgive you but when I forgive I  don't imeaditly give you my trust back. Trust is earned, not bought. Colton I know it will take a long while for me to trust you again but I promise I will one day. But as of now, your forgiven but what you did is not forgotten."

Tessa tells me as Blaze holds her to his side. She sends me a warm smile and I smile back.

"Cole there is a lot of can, could, and might hate you for."

Blaze begins as he stares me down and I turn my eyes to his.

"But I can't hate someone, I just cant. I've tried over and over to hate you but it only comes up as a 'I don't like you right now' type thing. I don't fully forgive you because you challenged me for what's MINE. But you will have to make up for all the heck you caused along with all the tears you caused."

Blaze said and I smiled. At least he won't kill me in my sleep, well he still could.

"Thank you Blazd, Tessa. I will do all I can to make it up to you. Madelyn."

I tell them and I stand up; pulling Madelyn with me. Once she's standing I get down on one knee in front of her.

"Madelyn Pendragon, I have screwed up over and over again. I've made bad choices and caused unwanted pain. When I went to the witch to change my heart I thought it would also change my brain. But it didnt.

I realize now that you are the one made for me. Every morning and every night you are the one I was ment to love.

I want you to know that I am truly going to give it my all this time. This time around I promise to give you my all. I promise to give this relationship my all. Madelyn I promise you this."

I tell her and she gasps. I hold her hand in mine and a test escapes her eye.

"Colton I- I don't know what to say."

She tells me and I stand up. I pull her into me and press my lips to hers. This is a promise to her. A promise I intend to keep.
