Chapter 51: not a backstabber

Madelyn's p.o.v

I arrived at the other medical bay and man were they messed up. They had tools everywhere and nothing was organized.

"Would you mind doing that whistle thing?"

I ask Colton and he nods. He puts two fingers in his mouth as he whistles a very loud whistle. This gains all of the attention from everyone in the room. They all look at Colton and me.

"Equipment lined on the back wall! Bandages and most needed medical supplys near the front! Pain killers and medicine on the front as well! Clean blankets and pillows at every station! Move it, move it, move it!"

I shout and everyone begins to set up what they are told to do. Soon enough we are all set up and organized. I'm surprised this place didn't have anyone come through just yet.

"Incoming!"

A guard yelled and I saw two women come stumbling in. I helped one to a bed where she was getting treated by 3 nurses. I lead the other one towards another bed where she was treated by 2 nurses.

"Maddy!"

I hear Cole shout my name and I turn to look for him. I see him sitting outside by a tree with his head in his hands. He's on the back side of the tree away from everyone else. Is he okay?

"You okay?"

I ask him with concern in my voice as I round the tree. I honestly have no clue what time expect.

"Yes I'm fine, I think."

He says and I look to see what he's going on about. I see Colton just sitting there. I scoff as he laughs his head off. I walk back inside the tent just in time to see the two girls leave.

"Okay now replace their bed sheets with clean ones."

I tell the nurses and they get to work. A few minutes later I hear loud footsteps against the forest floor. Cole and the guards outside have their Wepons at the ready to shoot. Well Colton just holds his hand out with rocks ready to hit someone in the face, but you get my drift.

"Hold your fire! Hold your fire!"

A lady with long red hair and brown eyes said as she helped carry a woman with long blonde hair and green eyes. The blonde girl was beta female Joanna from the Warrior pack!

"Quickly inside! She's loosing blood fast!"

I said as the guards moved to help Joanna. They lifted her up and carried her inside the tent. She had a knife lodged in her rib cage.

I used my water powers to clean all the blood away from her wound. Once all the blood is cleared some nurses handle her.

"Madelyn!"

Colton yells with urgency in his voice. I run out to see what it is and what I see makes me stop in my tracks.

I see my mother with a knife lodged in her chest as Colton helps steady her. Cole's shirt becomes stained with blood as my mother comes stumbling in. The guards pick her up and carry her inside the tent. Everything in my vision is in slow motion as I watch it unfold. Colton runs up to me and starts talking but I don't hear anything. He sighs and rolls his eyes as he kisses me.

That snapped me out of it.

"Now go help your mother."

He said as everything came back to normal speed. I ran back into the tent and cleaned the area around the knife lodged in her chest.

"Madelynn."

She croaks out as she grabs my hand. I look up at her sweet green eyes as they stare into my brown ones.

"Madelyn, rember what I always say."

She says as tears brim my eyes. I nod as I recall every time she told me her saying.

"Stay low, go fast
Let him go first, yourself last
One life, live it well
No luck, all skill."

I tell her and she nods.

"Now add to the end
'love more, hate less
Spend time with those you love.'."

She tells me and I nod. I look into her green orbs and she sends me a small smile.

"Brandon, it's nice to see you again. We have much to discuss."

Mom says as she looks back at me. It's clear she sees the light; the light that will take her from this world.

"I love you Madelyn. T-tell kaden I love him as well."

She said as she closed her eyes. Her chest stopped moving as her breathing stopped. I let out a howl of pain and I heard my father join in.

I lost my mother, my role model. My father lost more though. He lost his mate, his luna, his lover.

Tears streamed down my face I pulled the knife out of her chest. I placed a white cloth over her body and Cole ran to me. I cried into his chest as he held me close to his body. He knows how it feels to loose someone close to you and it feels terrible.

"C-colton s-shes gone."

I sob into his shirt has he holds my body close to his. As I cry another loud howl is heard. This howl is a sorrowful howl.
