The sun had set about five hours ago, meaning the moon and stars were out, as well as the darkness of the night. The thousands of blinding lights from the city lit up the streets and sidewalks, as cars zoomed back and forth and civilians were still out at the late hour.

One of these civilians was Zane Ro'Meave, a young adult of age twenty nine. Zane was more on the introverted emo side, loving the nighttime. Although part of that was for an excuse to be a lazy and sleepy piece of trash around the house, but he would never let his parents or brothers, or even his other roommate, in on that. If he did, they would make him work extra hard in the later hours.

Anyway, Zane was heading back home from a late night stroll around the park. He couldn't remember what he had even gone on the stroll for... was it to clear his head? Get away from his family? He wasn't sure.

For someone who dealt with noise all the time, he sure seemed tense in the silence. Maybe it was because he always had to deal with Garroth breaking down the doors, and Laurance running around all the time. It was the worst when they were together, especially in the same room... at night... alone... in a relationship..

Shuddering at even the mere thought of it, Zane found himself nearing an alleyway. Now normally Zane would be a reckless and idiotic person by venturing into shady alleyways, but tonight he could just sense something was up. About to dash right past the alleyway, an arm reached pout of the shadows and grabbed onto his arm. He tried to snap his arm back, or even loosen the sudden attacker's grip, but their hood was strong and firm, as if they'd done this countless of times.

With one harsh tug, the attacker had pulled Zane into the alleyway with a lot of force. The raven haired emo fell onto the asphalt ground, one of the loose and pointed cracked rocks cutting into his mask a bit.

Zane pushed himself up, both of his forearms against the ground as he pushed his upper body off the ground. A foot, most likely belonging to the mysterious attacker, stomped itself onto his back, pressing him back to the ground in a forceful action. Whoever this attacker was, they were strong. Alarmingly strong. So strong that they were able to role Zane over by simply sliding their foot under the middle of his torso and lifting it up.

At first, all Zane could see was the singular silhouette. Slowly, his vision filled more and his eye made out two other silhouettes.. two looking like they would belong to males, and the other was shaped like a female.

Zane really hoped he wasn't about to get gang raped. He had known about that crime for all of his life, and he had always feared it. But if there was one thing that he feared more, it was serial killers. People who have constantly killed, most of the time for the sake of killing.

The largest attacker, who had a more muscular build than the other two and was the tallest, reached down and grabbed a handful of Zane's black, dark grey, and whit sweater, and hauled him off of the ground, holding him in the air.

With Zane's new closeness to one of his attackers, who seemed to be the leader, he could make out a few features. Fairly tanned skin, deep and hypnotically shining eyes, and shining silky looking hair...

"Gene...!?" Zane gasped in surprise, coughing a bit.

"Surprise surprise~!" Gene laughed in a psychotic way, accompanied by the maniacal giggling and laughter of the other two, whom Zane assumed were Zenix and Sasha... but the feminine giggling reminded him of Michi..

"Let me go!!" He ordered, balling his hands into fists as he hit them against Gene's arm.

"Sorry, Zane, but that won't work." He informed him, before pushing him to the side.

Zane thought he would hit the brick wall and possibly black put or get a concussion, but he stumbled backwards and knocked over a row of steel trashcans, going down with them. He couldn't help but growl as he got covered in the items that had been stuffed inside, once waiting to be picked up by the garbage truck.

It was a type of irony, seeing as Gene was a driver of one of those trucks. He was also a butler at Aphmau's Maid Café...

Remembering that fact, Zane began to remember certain things that had happened recently which he considered strange.

Recently, Gene had been skipping his work shifts more often. Zenix, Sasha, and even Michi had come by more often, but what Zane considered strange about that was how they all exchanged low whispers to Gene, and Gene only. Sasha was the only one who never looked suspicious. In fact, she always looked like she would burst into tears at any second. That... really concerned Zane. Plus they would occasionally glance at Zane or Laurance, before mumbling something while glaring at the surface of the table.

"You're still as clumsy as ever." Gene complimented, making a 'tsk' sound at the end of his sentence.

"Hey!" Zane growled, pushing himself up and glaring at the older male.

"You..... you got a cup of ramen on your head..." The female, who was Michi, told him, gesturing to the spot on her head where it would be.

Blinking for a moment, Zane reached up and whacked the cup of ramen off with one hit. It landed on the ground, rolling a bit towards Zenix's foot. The brown haired male looked down at it for a moment, before taking a few steps back, as if the moldy cup of ramen were a poisonous apple... then again, it did have mold growing on it...

"What do you all want?" Zane asked, figuring out that fighting would cause him no good.

"Zane, do you know who we are?" Gene asked, cracking his knuckles and smirking.

"Gene the fat cunt, Zenix the puffing porcupine, and Michi the bratty snitch." He answered simply, giving Gene an innocent look. (Nathan, thank you SO much for calling Gene a fat cunt.)

"NO." He roared in an angered and demonic voice, his eyes flashing red for a moment as he was suddenly in Zane's face.

"Oh?" He asked with a whimper, acting to get teary eyed.

"We are the servants of Shad!" He announced with pride, but the only noise afterwards were the crickets.

"Servants.... of Shad?" Zane repeated, tilting his head in confusion.

"Shad the Destroyer, God of the Shadows, Death, and Darkness!" Gene explained, taking great pride in his words. "Lord of the Nether, pure rival of Lady Irene the Matron!!"

"...... I'm so lost right now." He sighed, frowning as he kicked a rock across the asphalt.

"The servants of Shad do his bidding." Zenix began to explain, grinning a bit as Gene began to fume. "Basically, we kill whoever he wants dead. We steal whatever it is he desires. We send the message he wants to get across."

"....... So you're criminals?" He questioned, too exhausted from the sudden attacking to be confused.

"Eh.... you could say that." Zenix groaned with a shrug, his hair spikes rising a bit.

Zane opened his mouth to speak, but screamed instead as a knife was brought across his good eye. Gene's hand was covering his mouth, so the screams of pain weren't as loud.

The next few days, Zane had been in the hospital. He had been getting a surgery on his once good eye, but the results weren't what he wanted.

His eye was ruined. He was blind forever.

He couldn't see, but he had been learning from the nurses on how to move by using his hearing and sense of smell. He knew when people were around him, as he always knew when Garroth or Aphmau were in the room with him.

He also had heard what happened to Sasha, why she hadn't been around.. she was dead.

Gene, Zenix, and Michi had killed her in her sleep. The people she trusted the most.... had taken her life..

Some servants of Shad.
