Everyone cheered as the last scene of the movie came to an end.
Now all that was left was the editing and uploading of the movie, which their director would do in her time. Their movies never had due dates. The actors all began chattering and socializing, breaking off into groups as they removed their props with care. The movie may have been over, but their director was a difficult one at times. There was never any warning to when she would change her mind.
One of the actors didn't socialize, though. Instead, he dragged himself down the hallway that led to their rooms. He knew he wasn't wanted at their little celebration. He had played the villain for so many parts recently, and sometimes he had actually hurt them more than he meant to. To make things worse, he had kissed Gene. Gene was his rival.
Slamming the door to his room closed, Zane couldn't help but to start tearing up. He undid the clips on the straps of his wings, placing the prop on his desk. His room was a mess. No one came in there but him anyway, so why did it matter? He cleaned it and dusted, but he never put things away properly.
He sat down in front of his mirror, where there were lightbulbs lined up along the frame. He whimpered, clutching his stomach as it rumbled. He was hungry. No... he was starving. He had stopped going to the breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and desserts. He didn't want anyone to see him.
Why was he so obsessed with how people saw him? He had known his fellow movie stars nearly his entire life, especially Garroth and Vylad. So why did he care so !such about their opinion on him?
He wasn't able to start thinking about it, because he heard loud knocks on his door. Getting up from his chair, he went over to his door. He looked through the peephole that all of the doors had, and nearly screamed out of fear when he saw who was on the other side.
Gene.
Gene did not understand what was happening with Zane. So, he wanted to find out. He stood in front of Zane's door, waiting for the emo to open up. Unfortunately, he never did.
"Come on, Gene.." Sasha yawned, walking past him. "Zane isn't gonna come out.. the others are already waiting for is at the dinner table."
Gene sighed in defeated, knowing the pastel goth was right. Zane wouldn't open up the door. As he was about to walk away, he heard the small rumble of a stomach, and a different sound followed by hushed curses.
What us going on in there?
He walked into the dining area and was greeted by Aphmau, who was sitting with everyone else. He waved back at her and went to sit down with Sasha and Zenix, who were arguing over who would get their shower first.
"Hey, guys." Gene yawned, sitting near them.
"Hey." They both said at the same time.
"Why do you guys think Zane never comes out anymore?" He asked suddenly, a bowl of soup appearing on the plate in front of him.
"I'm not sure..." Sasha admitted, looking confused.
"Hell if I know." Zenix shrugged, grabbing a French fry. "Why are you so concerned about it all a sudden?"
"I'm.. not sure." He answered, looking down at the bowl. "I was near his room, and heard a stomach growl from inside, followed by what sounded like a punch.."
He looked at them, only to see their faces pale a bit. They kept glancing at their food and then at Gene, as if debating which was more important. Finally, Sasha spoke, her voice quiet and nervous.
"You... don't think he's starving himself... do you?" She asked them.
"It's possible... as much as I hate to say that..." Zenix sighed, nodding in agreement.
"Oh Irene..." Gene trailed off, pushing his plate away and grabbing another one. "What does Zane like to eat?"
"Cupcakes." The spiky haired male answered, only to receive a glare from Sasha. "What?"
"He means actual nutrition wise, as in actual food." Sasha groaned, rolling her eyes. "Hm... I heard from Aphmau one time that he liked bananas."
"Hm..." Zenix yawned, smirking as he looked to the side. "I bet that's not the only long thing he likes."
"Shut it, Zenix." Gene growled, glaring at him as well. "This isn't something to be joking about."
Before either of the two could say anything, Gene got up and left the dining area.
Going down the hall towards the bedrooms that also acted as booths, Gene sighed lightly. Dammit, Zenix... he had gotten his mind in the gutter. He knew that Zane would not be very appreciative of that.
Stopping in front of the black door, he knocked on it twice.
No response.
He knocked again, this time a bit more quickly.
Still no response.
Gene grabbed the handle, rattling it as it would not open the door. It was locked from the inside. Something that Zane would do. He broke the door off of it's hinges, rushing inside. By the Six, Zane's room was a mess. Was that... blood?
Going over to the mirror, Gene moved a cloth, only to see a blade that had blood on it. Real blood. ... Zane's blood?
Now in a state of panic, Gene hurried to where Zane's bed was. Stepping through the doorway, his eyes immediately fell on Zane, who was underneath the covers of his bed. Gene approached the bed slowly, not wanting to startle the younger. When he was close enough to the piece of furniture, he grabbed the blanket and yanked it off of Zane.
Zane was laying there, on his side, his back facing Gene. He wasn't making any sound, so he began to worry. Placing his hand on the pale shoulder, he rolled the raven haired goth onto his other side. Zane's eye was closed, but his chest moved with each breath he took.
He was just asleep.
Knowing this, Gene let out a sigh of relief, but still frowned at the smaller. He was noticeably thin, as his sweater hung loosely from his shoulders. It went a little bit past his thighs, but Gene would not check if he was wearing anything underneath.
"You worry me, Zane..." Gene sighed, brushing some of Zane's black hair behind his ear.
He was about to pull his hand away, when he paused. Zane looked so relaxed when he slept, as if nothing could hurt him and the world didn't matter. As if whenever he closed his eye and drifted into that strange abyss, he was the safest person alive. Such a serene look on his pale, freckled face. It was a cute thing for Gene to see, as he only saw that one eye that would bring in the world around him.
"You're such a dork." Gene said with a sigh, caressing Zane's cheek. "But an adorable dork."
"And... that's a wrap!"
Gene froze, looking behind him to see the director standing there with a camera. He could never fully see wharf she looked like, but she looked like she was only a young girl. He blushed red, whirling around to face her.
"H-HEY!"
