Unwanted Memories

The sparking of wires.

The thumps of furry, padded feet.

The occasional glitched chime of a music box.

The flickering of the fluorescent lights.

The sputtering of robotic voices.

The smell of old pizza and mold.

The haunting memories of the pizzeria.

Gene hugged his knees to his chest as he sat in one of the bathroom stalls, on top of the closed toilet lid in a crisscrossed way. In his hands he held an old, half working tablet that connected to the security cameras stationed throughout the building. He did his best to remain calm as he switched the screens, hoping-- no.. praying-- he wasn't breathing too hard. He did not want any of those robotic things finding him. They already got to Zenix and Sasha. He was the only one left now.

He had left his walkie talkie back in the security guard office, since he didn't need it anymore. Still, just maybe, with a thin slithering shred of miraculous luck, he could have gotten a signal out to the police station. But he was all alone now. All by himself. One human against four murderous mascots.

He froze as he heard heavy footsteps coming his way, a barely seeable wisp of violet purple light through the cracks of the stall door.

Chica, he thought.

Chica was the only robot who was programmed as a female character. She was a chicken, but a lot of people mistook her for a duck. She would love it whenever the customers ate happily or didn't care about how much they ate. That's why Sasha had liked her so much. And she was the one who killed her.

Bonnie was, believe it or not, a male programmed character. He was a rabbit, one who could never be quite certain if he was a pale pale blue or purple. He played the guitar on the stage, but was mostly quiet. Zenix's favorite, and like Sasha, he had died to the rabbit.

Freddy Fazbear was the main star of the show. He was a brown bear, a common depiction of his character's species, unlike Bonnie and Chica. He had a top hat, and was the singer of the group. There were very strict rules regarding him, though, such as you couldn't touch him like you could to Bonnie and Chica. He was Gene's favorite, and Gene had a sinking feeling that he would be one of the only people to be close to the bear.

Foxy was a fox who got his own little show. He was stationed in Pirate's Cove, with an eye patch and hook of his own. He had red fur, with a rip across his torso and one in his tail, along with the character suit legs being torn off, exposing the metal beneath it. He had been out of order even before the pizzeria had gone out of business. He was a favorite of Dante's, but Dante had died a long time ago.

"Let's... EaT!" Chica's voice glitched out and sputtered, the violet purple light flickering momentarily.

Gene cringed as he heard the snapping of the cupcake's jaws, with the soundless laughter following it. He swapped to the security camera that monitored the front of the bathrooms, and saw Chica standing there, staring. He could see the glint of two reddish eyes in the darkness.

Freddy's here, Gene realized with horror.

How had he not noticed or heard? He strained his ears to hear, but he couldn't hear the glitched chiming melody that Freddy always had. He hadn't even heard his heavy footsteps, and Freddy had the heaviest of all of them.

He looked down at the monitor, and saw that the screen was entirely static. A red blinking cell of a battery was displayed on the screen, empty. That was when the monitor tablet had powered off completely. It was dead. It was useless.
