Under The Bed

This was a request.

It was already eleven at night, and Zane still hadn't fallen asleep.

The seventeen year old male clutched his blanket tightly, shaking under the cover as if it were a shield. He knew it was pathetic for someone like him, to be having nightmares at such an old age. He always got teased by his brothers for it. Sometimes they would purposely scare him, just to get reactions out of his fragile emotions.

Yes, what great brothers he had. He never told his mother because he was grown up enough to deal with them himself. Or... he at least liked to believe that he was. If he still believed there was a monster under his bed, waiting to eat him, then how could he ever stop his brothers and their teasing?

"Zane..."

The raven haired goth tensed up under his covers, a small gasp escaping his mouth. He could feel the sudden chill in the room, making his hairs stand on end and felt the goosebumps along his body. He knew that voice. It was the voice of the monster under his bed, the beast lurking in the shadows, the assassin waiting to strike.

It was Gene.

At least, that's the name the monster went by. Zane had no way of knowing if it was his real name, or the name of the last person he had eaten.

Nonetheless, Gene would keep him awake all night. Of course he tried to make the goth fall asleep, telling him stories and whispering lullabies. Zane had never seen the monster with his own sight, but he knew that he had teal eyes.

"Are you ready to fall asleep, little sheep?" Gene asked him in his creepily soothing voice, like a gentle father speaking to his young.

Zane whimpered as the uncomfortable chill on one side became warmer, to the point where he felt at ease on it. That easing warmth turned to sweating heat as he felt a hand on his face, clawing at his skin slightly.

"It's always so nice to feel your face." Gene chuckled, hissing at the end. "I love how soft your hair is too... re!minds me of my own."

"Don't touch me.." Zane whimpered, tearing up in his eye.

"I wonder how you taste.." He purred, licking Zane's cheek.

"Ew.." He cringed, noticeably shuddering.

"Now don't be like that.." He sighed, grabbing onto Zane's hands. "After all, you don't want to be disgusted for the last moments of your life."

"N-No!!" Zane yelled out, thrashing as his bed made creaking sounds as he moved against it.

"Come on Zane. If you don't struggle, this will all be so much easier for both of us. I'll make your death quick." Gene insisted, his stronger arms pinning Zane down.

"HELP!!!!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, hurting his throat in the process. "MOM!! GARROTH!!!! VYLAD!!!"

"No one can hear you, and no one can save you." He growled.

Zane didn't care what Gene said. He kept screaming and wailing, thrashing about in any way he could. He knew Gene was losing patience, and maybe, just maybe, he would spare him from such a fate. Unfortunately, he only quickened his date with death.

He screeched out in pain when he felt something bite his neck.

And the last thing he saw was his blood shooting out of his neck, and Gene staring at him.

~~~~
Gene sat back on the bed, dropping the piece of Zane's neck on the ground.
He had to admit, Zane was a cutie. It had actually hurt to kill the poor guy, but he had to do it. He had come up on the radar of potential threats to the revival of his Lord, and had to be dealt with. Still... that didn't mean Gene couldn't keep the body.
Picking the lifeless corpse, Gene headed to the window. He opened it with one arm, climbing out. He landed on the grass of the backyard, taking off in a sprint to where his hideout was.
~~~~Aftermath~~~~

"Oh, what happened..?"

Vylad opened the door fully and stepped into his older brother's bedroom, wrinkling his nose in disgust at the stickiness of the carpet. The room was a mess, with the window open and the blankets bundled into a knot. The black curtains danced and hit against the walls and window frame, small droplets on the windowsill.

"Jeez, Zane is really letting himself go." Garroth muttered, looking into the room with a frown. "Baby brother, wake up. It's time to get ready for school."

When Zane didn't respond, Vylad looked at Garroth. "I'll wake him up. You go ahead."

Turning back to the bed, Vylad stomped towards the bed. It was definitely stickier over here, with a disgustingly sickening squishy sound.

"Zane, wake up." Vylad hissed, crossing his arms. "Garroth let you sleep in an extra hour, but you still gotta go to school. Mommy's rules."

Still no response.

Huffing, he grabbed the blanket and ripped it off.

At first, he saw a large stain of deep crimson red. It looked recent, as if it had appeared only a few hours ago. Then he screamed.
