Net Neutrality

Okay, I'm gonna say this...

THE GOVERNMENT SWEARS THAT IT KNOWS WHAT IS BEST FOR US. LIKE NO YOU DON'T LMAO.

The Net Neutrality Laws were made for a reason, and that reason is true; all internet deserves to be treated equally, no matter the company or any of that stuff. It is what gives us that free roam around the internet that we all take for granted, because we thought it would be around forever.

It's trying to be repealed.

By who, you ask? Who would be so stupid as to take away our freedom of the worldwide internet that has, somehow, become an essential to everyday life?

The same people who made them.

They swapped political parties. You can't just swap political parties and decide to get rid of something. Besides, you need the approval of Congress and the President.

Also, Twitter, shut the hell up. I don't think you realize that if the Net Neutrality Laws get repealed that your money income will be less, because you'll have less users, because less people will be able to afford your website/app.

My mom says she isn't worried about the Net Neutrality being repealed, nor does she care, but she doesn't even use the internet, like at all.

People who don't use the internet for anything, or don't go on many websites, don't see the big deal.

If the Net Neutrality Rules get repealed, you can kiss goodbye to all your favorite websites, social medias, and online friends. Hope you got enough money to pay not only for monthly internet, but for the extensions to get to certain websites as well.

Paying for internet alone is enough money spent. We don't need to be paying extra to get to what we rightfully deserve.

Some people struggle to pay for monthly internet. Don't tell me "they don't need the internet in the first place" because they sure as hell do. It's called school, work, being heard, and having the same rights. Hell, some of these people struggle to even keep a roof over their heads.

Our world has enough poverty and rioting already. Why add to that? The F.C.C. should know that restricting the usage of the internet isn't going to help us.

What does it mean for those of us who have a very little voice in person, but a strong voice on the internet? We fade away. Our only power is stripped from us, snatched right out of ours hands, and what can we do about it once it's gone? Nothing.

The repealing of the Net Neutrality Rules especially hits me personally, and not because I'm the "Queen" of the Zene Ship, or because I love the internet. It's because of Wattpad.

Wattpad gave me hope.

Hope that there was still something in humanity to be proud of. Hope that there was still something in store. Hope that I could make a difference.

Hope that gave me a dream. My dream to become an author.

If I lose the very thing that gave me my dream... I'd give up. On everything that I have done so far.

Nerula, the Jade Jury, Stargazer... I'd have thrown it all away.

Call it stupid and pathetic if you want, but I'm not holding back any feelings here. I will be heard in this message. If not by anyone who is taking an official part in the war, then at least by my fellow brothers and sisters of this community.

Think about your favorite YouTuber (Aphmau for me, obviously), and imagine never being able to watch them again, unless you pay for an extension fun entertainment package.

Sure, internet companies say that they won't change anything, but when was the last time we were able to have confidence in something like that? Oh, I forgot, we don't get told jack shit about what's happening in politics and with companies.

Especially if you're a child. You're busy at school all day, when the news is taking place. When you get home, you have homework, dinner, hygiene, all that stuff. Plus, you don't even know what to look at for the latest news.

It's all bullshit.

I'll always respect the government for protecting my freedom in this country, but individually? Ha, they would have more luck reasoning with Hitler than they would with me.

Call it an exaggeration if you must, but I think something needs to be done. Things are changing, and we the people are the only ones who can help to stop it.

Rise, my brothers and sisters. Rise, and let your voice be heard. Rise, and stand your ground for what you believe in, for what you want, for your freedom.

Text 'Resist' to 50409, and send something as simple as 'Save Net Neutrality' to your Congress Representatives. Send letters, emails, calls, texts, telegrams, anything to join the fight.

We have sixty days until it goes to Congress.

I'll see you on the battlefield.
