Gene sat alone at the table.

He was struggling to deal with all the emotions that were building up. It didn't help that any Companion outside of he Circle absolutely despised him for showing them up, but he at least could relate to Sasha. Both of their hearts were swelling with grief and despair, but they maintained a noble state to show.

He reached down to his boot and unsheathed the steel dagger that he had strapped onto it. He looked at his reflection in the blade, and felt his heart hurt even more than it already did. He placed it on the table before covering his face with his hands.

"Hey."

Gene looked up to see Sasha entering the mead hall, giving him a small smile. She was wearing a different set of armor, this one being respective towards wolves, unlike her previous fur and hide armor.

"Hey..." Gene managed to say, giving the steel dagger a sideways glance.

Sasha seemed to notice this, as she replied, "Don't worry, Gene. We'll avenge Zane's death. The Silver Hand will pay for their crimes."

Gene nodded slightly, his mind going back to the memory.

Gene and Sasha were making their way through Gallows Rock, one of the camps for the Silver Hand, an organization that killed Shadow Knights and other creatures.

"There's nothing we can do for the ones in here." Sasha said to Gene as he walked up to a cage. "Only the Divines know what the Silver Hand did to them."

Gene nodded and continued down the hall, flinching slightly at the sight of a dead Werewolf. He wanted to help them, but Sasha was right. There was no telling what they might after being prisoners of the Silver Hand.

"We should be getting close to the center now." Sasha said as they went down a flight of stairs. "I'd be more cautious if I were you."

"Why would we need to be cautious?" Gene asked, looking over his shoulder at her.

"The leader of this camp is called Ivan the Skinner." She said, her expression pale as she spat the name out like a rotten pear. "I don't think I need to tell you why."
