"Whoa... I like the towel. It's very uh... pink." I felt my face flushing as pink as my towel, as his hazel eyes seemed to study my half naked form for far too long, his tongue sneaking out and running across his bottom lip, and I brushed up against his arm as I hurried past him to my bedroom. He had to realize I had the biggest crush on him... why else would he be teasing me like this?
"Hey." I scowled at Scarlet, who was laying across the end of my bed thumbing through my box of vinyl records "Did you not get the new Hozier album yet?" I shook my head as I walked over to my closet to grab a clean set of clothing, thumbing through about 15 t-shirts before settling on my worn out black Beatles tee and a pair of black leggings.
"Haven't had a chance to go to the record store yet... you didn't tell me your brother was coming with you?! He saw me like this Scarlet..." I motioned to myself, before stepping behind my privacy screen to get dressed.
"He wanted to talk to Alex about some show they're playing in a couple weeks..." she trailed off as the bluesy rock sounds of Jonny Lang began to echo throughout my room "You don't exactly sound embarrassed about it."
"I am so done talking to you about your asshole brother..." I scowled again, pulling the box of records carefully onto the floor and then laying down on my bed, concentrating on the glow in the dark stars that I'd stuck up on my ceiling when I was about five. Which, coincidentally, was about when Scarlet and her family had moved into the house a few blocks down the road. I'd clicked with her almost instantly, partially due to the fact that we both had siblings that were exactly 4 years older than us. Neither of us said anything for the next few minutes, my eyes even closing as I let the music melt away my nerves from my awkward interaction with Logan earlier "Scarlet?"
"Yeah?" She sat up, pulling her knees to her chin as she picked at the loose threads on the legs of her jeans "Look I know you have a crush on my brother. I don't care." Her long red hair fell around her face as she smirked at me "We all grew up together so yeah I mean, it's kinda weird but whatever. We're all adults now... and maybe I think Alex is kinda..."
"Don't. Just... just don't. He's gay, so I'm pretty sure you're not his type." She stuck her tongue out at me, laying back on the bed "Anyways..." Fifty, Fifty stupid glow in the dark stars. I really needed to take them down... I was constantly counting them, constantly being distracted by how they'd faded and didn't glow quite right when it was dark "You got any plans tomorrow? We can maybe drive down to the music store and pick up that record, get some coffee..."
"Oh Nat... I've got that photography job tomorrow, the zoo hired me for their grand re opening party, you could come with me?"

I tucked my hair behind my ear with one hand as I mindlessly thumbed through the sale bin of records with the other. Scarlet had invited me to come along with her but I'd politely declined, instead choosing to be somewhere where there would be a lot less people. I was in my safe place, here in this modestly sized shop, where the sounds of whatever was popular at the time were always faintly playing overhead "Why aren't you with my sister..." Logan... his soft voice wrapped around my ears and I could feel the warmth of his body as he moved behind me, his hands seeming to purposely brush against the back of my shirt...
