Today when I was on my way to college, I got a call from the Finance company/start up that had shortlisted me a couple of weeks back. It was the main head/partner itself. He told me that I have been selected for the internship. They were initially planning on having a second round of interviews with the shortlisted ones but they seemed to have scrapped that plan and directly offered the position.

He had initially asked me if I'm still interested in the internship and I had said yes. But then he told me that he'll send me an email and I need to approve it. I panicked for a bit. I told him that I would also have to discuss it with my parents. My point was that I can't give him a 100% confirmation at the moment because:
-> I didn't know the confirmed job description of the internship. I had applied for the technical position during our first interview but I wasn't sure if he noted it down or if that's that position he was offering me.

-> I hadn't been to their office even once and the address is kinda far from my place so that would be one point I would seriously have to consider.

-> I hadn't discussed anything with my parents. Yes, I discuss such important things with my parents. Their advice is the best.

-> The main reason was I waiting on the other company that I had recently applied to. I didn't want to take a decision before I got reply from that company. What if I got through to their second round? I didn't want to miss that opportunity.

I think I asked him to send me the E-mail but he didn't send me at all. Maybe he thought I would discuss with my parents, get back to him and then he would send me the email. I didn't follow up with him tho. I really don't want to rush this.

We had a small dinner celebration today. My dad says that we must enjoy small successes as well. I didn't think he would be this happy to know that I got in somewhere.

But the question is: was this celebration too early? I honestly hadn't done much research on this Finance company. I had just judged it hard on one interview. While I was studying, my dad came up to me and told me that he found out that this company is actually a barely 3 month old start up. And most probably they are only working with a team of two at the moment. Besides, the owner is just two years older to me.

The chances of me accepting this internship have just become smaller. As it is, this was an internship and not a placement and the office was not the most suitable one. Frankly, I would be stupid to accept this offer instead of waiting for the other one.

Even though I know that working in startups give you a variety of experience and control, what I require now is to gain proper experience from an established firm. I have already worked in a start up kind of environment so now I want to go back to what I wanted from the beginning itself.

Having said that, I am still worried that if I wait for too long, there's a chance I might lose both the positions.
