Praise cute daughter characters.
STORYTIME!
She held the hands of her Dads on both sides. Virgil and Patton were two proud parents of their baby girl. She had red hair, roses cheeks, and freckles just like stars. Patton had begged and pleaded Virgil to have her be named Valentine when she was born, but Virgil really liked the name Elise. So they compromised and named her Elise Valentine Sanders. They adopted her when she was abandoned at an orphanage at month five. She's four years old, one year until she goes to Kindergarten, and Virgil is starting to be a little clingy.
"Papa, Daddy, are we going to the park today?"
The family was just going on a walk around the cul-de-sac they live in with their puppy dog Dachshund named Boris. Virgil was a big fan of BATIM so no need to ask. Patton looked over at Virgil, who was a sucker for his little girl. He's also a sucker for his husband who was nonverbally begging him to go the park. The park was at the front of the neighborhood by the neighborhood center, too far to walk. That meant that the three of them would have to walk and Boris would have to be left home. But... he's a sucker for his loved ones.
"Well... Only if Daddy drives!"
Virgil managed to pin this decision on Patton. Patton pouted angrily at him whole Virgil stuck out his tongue and shrugged, being silly. Pretty little Elise looked up at Patton rather than Virgil, using her big pretty eyes. What they call Pretty Eyes is when she makes her eyes real big and bats her eyelashes to try and get what she wants. 9.5/10 times she gets exactly what she wants. She is a spoiled little princess. But they love her.
"I don't know Kiddo. I wanted to ask Papa what he thought but since I get to make the decision... How about we go for ice cream instead!?"
Elise cheered and Virgil glared at Patton, who was grinning just as goofily as their four year old daughter. They have discussed this earlier in the week: With the budget cuts at Virgil's company (a music producing company) he has to worry about excess expenses and it will be hard to keep his job since they're begining to let people go. However... Virgil could never say no to his spoiled Princess and the Love of his Life. The two people he loves more than anything else. He can put off buying that new TØP album. He can just stream it on YouTube. He relaxed as Elise pulled them both around the cul-de-sac back to the family minivan.
"I want strawberry fro-yo with extra sprinkles! Pretty please Papa!"
Virgil couldn't help hit laugh at the cheery young girl. She is definitely turning into the strawberry spitting image of Patton. All she needs is glasses and twin ponytails and it's basically little girl Patton. They brought Boris around to the backyard and closed the gates. He found himself preoccupied with a cat who had somehow entered the yard. Boris is a friendly doggo, the cat will be fine unless they attack him. Then Elise dragged them over to the car, Virgil throwing Patton the keys so that he could drive. Let's be real: neither of them were the driving gays. They both sucked at driving.
Elise got in the car, buckling her seatbelt like a big girl would. Patton nor Virgil needed to help her with her seatbelt any more. They grow up so fast. Patton got into the Driver's seat and started the car. Virgil slid into the passenger's side like a creep slides into the DMs. Before long, they were on the road and went to the family-owned froyo place that was in the neighborhood shopping center. It's across the street from the KidsRKids that paired up with the school Patton worked at. Basically, it didn't take too long to get there.
The second the car parked, Elise ran out of it with the biggest grin on her face. Virgil, in a swift wash over of panic, threw himself out of the car to catch her. He looked back and saw Patton laughing, twirling the keys around his finger. Of course. Patton's used to this kind of thing. This was exactly what he was like as a kid and not an angsty pile of introversion like Virgil was from age six and beyond to this day.
Virgil held the door open for his family and Elise ran right up to the counter, no line in front of her at all. Patton thanked Virgil quietly as he ran after her, Virgil snickering and walking in behind theme, shoving his hands in his jean pockets. Elise was already yelling out thst she wanted a strawberry fro-yo cup with extra sprinkles, the teenager behind the counter gushing because their daughter is the cutest thing. Virgil pulled out his wallet, knowing he'd eventually be the one to end up paying.
"So, one child's strawberry frozen yogurt cup with sprinkles, a medium vanilla cup with chocolate chips, and... Virgil Honey? What do you want?"
Patton looked back at him, snatching one of Elise's hands beforehand she could escape and run off anywhere. Virgil walked up and looked at the specials for the day. Nothing too good. The teenager was smiling way wider than what a normal employee would. Nice. That means his family manages to brighten this kid's day. That really helped Virgil deal and get over his social anxiety.
"Just get me a medium mint chocolate chip and vanilla swirl. Flat."
Patton saw the wallet and brought Elise over to a table so they could wait. Virgil payed for the fro-yo and managed to carry all three cups and dish them out to his family along with red plastic spoons that come with them. Elise reached for the spoon and was happily kicking her legs under the table, smiling. Patton handed Elise a napkin and Virgil sat down across from his husband and next to his daughter. Virgil grabs a spoon and gets a barbaric amount of fro-yo and stuffing it in his mouth.
Feel the cold.
