STORYTIME!

When or where did they appear? What kind of looks and features do they have on here? Well, the truth? Nobody knows because they're an eater of dreams, monochrome viper as it goes. Aaaaah~

Deceit locked on to his next target. Anything they can do to get someone's eyes they will do. They need people's eyes. By taking their eyes they are able to use them to see the world in color. Without that they would go absolutely insane, but if someone else were to go absolutely insane they wouldn't care at all. They smirked as they saw the person put down their pencil they were writing something or whatever one and they yawned wide. It's time for the viper to slip in the window and work their magic.

"Hello there, friend~"

Deceit sat in the window that was previously closed, now completely open so that they may do as they please. It was just like magic. The person didn't jump. They spun their seat around and looked at the He demon sitting in their window. Deceit noticed their features. String jawline, braid shoulders, rectangular glasses, a necktie, tidy brown hair that's almost black slicked back with gel... it was ten o'clock at night and this person dressed as though it was noon. How peculiar. This person must be an insomniac. Deceit is very talented with getting an insomniac to give up their eyes~

"Are having trouble at night? Can't sleep with all your fright? Well, if that's the case then why don't I give you a spell to make it all alright?"

"You're a monochromatic viper. I can tell based on the scales on the side of your face and the fact that your eyes don't match one another. I woudlnt doubt that you have scales all over your body and hands hidden by your black and yellow attire. You are here to beckon me into forming a contract and you are going to give me whatever I desire relating to my dreams and then you are going to rip my eyes from the sockets and use them as your own, but only for the left eye since your right eye is your natural one and is henceforth irremovable. I've done my research, I am a smart man. You cannot swindle me."

Deceit froze. Ah, so this man knows exactly what he is all about hmm? Deceit frowned, not knowing what kind of flowery language or lie he can tell to earn this guy's trust. Well, at least he proclaimed himself a man so that deceit could gender him correctly. The only good thing that came from that expositional monologue.

"Well, that was entirely expected...."

Let's switch perspectives because we made it to about five hundred words around here. Logan had been expecting a beast like this to appear in front of him. It was just as his hypothesis stated: If the subject pretends to be an insomniac then a monochrome viper would appear to create a contract. Stated in the correct If... Then... format for a proper hypothesis. Logan had wanted to summon one of these creatures for a good reason. He wanted to study one of them. He wanted, no, needed to understand what makes these monsters the way they are. Maybe he could create an artificial way to give them color so the entire human population doesn't end up blind.

"Now listen to me. I will agree to form a contact with you, however it will be on my terms and my terms alone. Most contracts are done by a month's time, correct? Then if I don't find an alternative for your lack of depicting pigment, then you take my eyes. However if I do not find a solution, then you may share this solution with the rest of your species and you must swear off of taking eyes from us mortals. Deal?"

Logan held out his hand to shake, finalizing the deal. Normally these deals are sealed with something childish and/or bidnging like a kiss or a pinkie promise. Logan was far too professional. The demon laughed at Logan as though he was the most stupid being in the history of life itself.

"Fine, I say we have a deal~"

They shook on it and the deal was set. Now Logan had to get right to work....

💛💙💛💙💛💙💛

"You haven't slept a wink in a week. You are actually becoming an insomniac. You need to get some rest even if you want to find this impossible cure you are so deadset on."

Logan sighed the demon sitting in his window again. Of course he was back. He's always back at the same time each night: ten o'clock. It twenty two hundred depending on if you use military time or not. Logan had been researching the anaotomy of various demons, since the monochrome vipers didn't have specific research books, and trying to make connections. Vipers are apparently the most humanoid of the demon race. Perhaps the key to a cure is relating to something more human? Or maybe these viper subspecies demons were once humans themselves? There are many mysteries that have to clues to help Logan uncover their secrets. Logan didn't reply to the demon, having too much to focus on.

"That sweater looks cute on you, naïve science boy."

"I'm not naïve."

"I hate how that's the part that you scold me for, calling you naïve. So you don't get too flustered when someone calls you cute, hmm? That's not interesting in the slightest. So what if I called you adorable? Or would you prefer handsome? Oh, you do have a preference! I can see it on your face! How fun~!  A handsome, suave, rugged, intelligent, dedicated, realist, hot guy like you has a preference on what I call you~ Your eyes say a thousand words, human, even if the rest of your face is as emotionless as ever. I like it~"

Logan's cheeks burned from the compliments. Nobody has given him quite a display of... fondness was it? That's what Logan shall call it. A fondness. Nobody had ever given Logan a fondness before and his reaction to it was something out of his control. How peculiar. He would have to look into these symptoms after the demon has gone away. He does not want to show a sign of weakness to them. If there was one thing Logan was not, it was naïve. So as long as that misconception was cleared, Logan would be content.

Aha! Bingo! Logan had found something! A secret folded up piece of paper in the crease of the seventy fourth page out of one hundred and thirty two revealed a detailed anatomy and description of the monochrome viper specifically!

The only monochrome demons must be viper, for the viper demons have been changed into demons through the shamans of the demon race. That means they are mortal unlike all other demons. The only way to reverse this is to spark all things that would make them human. Show off their faults/flaws, force them to be angry and force them to have fun, and make them fall in love with another human.

Logan was correct yet again in his hypothesis. Now, how was he going to spark all those emotions in a viper demon when he hardly experienced these things himself? Perhaps going through love would be the best bet, considering all those complements he was just given.

"Oh? Found something? How amusing. What is it you have found? I'm sure it would be useful in finding a cure."

They're such a sarcastic little bastard, aren't they? Now, what could Logan do to seduce the demon, show them that they were and can be human again, make them fall in love, and have them be blissfully unaware of Logan's plan? He could start by asking their name. Before now it was never something pressing that Logan required, but if he's going to form a romantic bond with this person then he is going to need a name to put on the gifts that's he buys for them. Yes, that would be a perfect first step to the dating process. Logan is a clever man.

"What's your name?"

"My name? It matters now? Well it's Deceit, a very common one you might add. Ha ha..."

"I see, then perhaps you'd like to join me downstairs for some tea? You must be quite tired and you could use a bit of compassion. Come, I refuse to take no for an answer."

Logan stood up and began walking downstairs, glancing behind his shoulder once or twice to make sure that Deceit was still following him. Good. They were. Logan smiled. His plan was working just like he wanted. Now he can win his contract and make the world slightly better for all of humanity.
