I wanna know... Who here reading is a driving gay and who here is a zodiac gay?
STORYTIME!
Dee was driving the car, Patton holding himself while sitting in the passenger's seat. He was holding himself and his dried tears felt salty on his skin. Patton had just gotten his heart broken yet again, and since he can't drive well he asked his best friend Dee to come pick him up. It was raining, fitting for the mood in the air. Patton watched the rain drops roll down the window and the road was pretty empty.
"Patton. Why would you even try dating someone you've never met?"
Patton had a 'boyfriend' on a dating app and didn't realize it was a catfish lady. Patton may be all accepting but he is 100% Gay. Men only. Sorry ladies, We're sure you're wonderful but Patton isn't about the boob life. Patton remained silent, not wanting to speak. Dee sighed and left it alone, turning on his blinker to turn left instead of right at the intersection leading into the neighborhood where Patton lived. Patton was confused, but Dee had a plan.
Dee wanted to go for a drive and talked to him. Patton leaned up in his seat, uncomfortable and practically on the edge. Dee knows how reclusive Patton can be when he's upset. Dee gets thst way too. But Dee knows better than anyone else that this is the kind of thing that they both need to talk about. Now is the time. This conversation has to happen and now is the perfect time for this.
"Dee, my house is the other way."
"I know, but it's time that we talk... about your recklessness involving your love life."
Patton froze and stopped the taking again. Patton really didn't want to talk about this. Dee didn't want to hurt him or make him miserable. Dee kept driving, not even caring where he was going or how much gas he was going to use. There was more silence, and it was uncomfortable. Dee kept side-eying Patton to watch him, even though his left eye was In worse condition than his right. Dee wants to keep this conversation going. He has to.
"Patton, I want to know why you keep going on these dates when...."
Dee couldn't finish the sentence, deciding thst going the very cliché out wasn't the way to go. Patton remained silent. Patton was really stubborn with this, Hmm? Is Dee going to have to guess the reasons why, isn't he? No. That would hurt him. Dee would just have to try and comfort him without knowing where the problem lied. And not lied as in lies and deceit, which he was still getting over being sort of a compulsive liar and secretive bit h, but lied and is laid like lays down somewhere. Dee's strong suit was never english.
Now, what is something that Patton can get so messed up over that he was willing to get his heart broken by several catifishes and willing to use the internet to find strangers to give him validation? Oh lord it's obvious: Patton is insecure and lonely. That's why everyone turns to Tinder nowadays, right? Damn. Now Dee feels like Haida pinning after Retsuko only to be turned down at the beginning of the Christmas Special. Dee turned on his blinker, needing to get into the center lane. It's time to take a comforting drive down the highway.
"Patton, I get it. You're lonely. You're insecure. You want someone by your side romantically so you can reaffirm yourself that you're worthy of love. You want to prove to yourself and your damaged self esteem that someone is able to love you. I know it hurts, but using strangers for validation isn't the way."
Now we're on the highway! The rain dropped on the windowshield and now there's more noise than just the warm air. Patton bit his bottom lip, whimpering a bit. He hit right on the money. Dee glanced over again at him, noticing that he was crying again. Dee knew that nobody was really around him. It's ten thirty at night in the highway during a rain that's about to go storm mode. Of course the highway would be pretty Dead! Dee switched to driving with one hand, reaching over for his hand. Dee found it and gave it a squeeze. His chest hurt. It's time to pour out his feelings.
"Patton... I know you're probably not going to like me after this but... I'm right here. I know I'm an ugly guy with skin cancer and was a nasty person before, but I've changed thanks to you. You are amazing, wonderful, beautiful, and everything I could have ever asked for in a person. I don't care if you ditch me or friendzone me, but... I love you Patton. I would be more than happy to date you and make you feel less lonely and do anything to make you happy again. I love you so much it hurts. So... please stop getting yourself hurt. It pains me."
Silence. There's a long silence. Patton wouldn't let De bring his hand back and he continued to drive. He stayed in the right lane, turnin on his blinker to get off the highway. It seemed like the perfect time to get off the highway. Dee felt Patton grab his hand and use it to place it on the side of his face. Dee gasped and looked over at Patton, who was still crying and holding Dee's hand against his face.
"Dee...? You're not lying to make me feel better... right?"
"I wouldn't dream of it. I only lie when I need to protect someone or when I'm uncomfortable. That or when I hate someone. I could never hate you, Patton."
Patton's face was really warm, but his tears were really really cold when's they fell onto his hand. Dee found a parking lot and immediately turned into that's, parking in the first spot he saw. Once he was parked he took off his seatbelt (getting his hand back for a second of course) and then reached both hands over for Patton's.
"Please, please promise me you'd never do anything like that again. I hate seeing you hurt."
Patton shook his head, Dee not knowing what to make of it. Patton put both of Dee's hands on his own face. We're his hands warm or something? Patton closed his eyes, even though his glasses are still there and they were being pressed against Dee's pinkie fingers. Dee watched and waited. His heart was pounding. What did this mean? What was going on? Was Patton rejecting him or reciprocating him?
"I don't need to, when I got you. Right? That's what you tried to say at the begining?"
The cliché sentence he almost went with. Dee smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, no need for that when you got me."

Sometimes you might need to take a break and step back. You may really want something, it might be right next to you and you wouldn't even know it. Dreams are good, very good! Roman would definitely agree, but Patton and Logan might tug on your arms and tell you to slow down. Tell you that you have everything you need next to you and you don't need to do the impossible to be happy.
Internet hugs and blow kisses!
