Nick

I was beyond exhausted from the night before. But damn was I stressed about having dinner with Amelia's dad. He told me on the phone earlier while she was sleeping that he would come over and bring dinner with him. Honestly, that sounded like a good idea. I wasn't sure if Amelia would want to go anywhere for dinner, and I wouldn't blame her if she didn't want to either. She took a beating yesterday yet she's still acting like nothing happened. She was extremely tough on the inside. To be honest, I was just glad that her dad wasn't dead. I knew she wanted answers from when she would talk to me about it before, and I'm so glad she is finally getting the answers now. She deserved it.

Her dad was just as generous and kind as she was, that must be where she got it from. I couldn't imagine her getting any of her personality traits from her bitch of a mother.

It was now six and Amelia was searching frantically though her suitcase trying to find something nice to wear.

"Amelia, you'll look good no matter what you put on." I simply stated while she looked at me and rolled her eyes.

"I know. I know," she repeated. She fell backwards onto her butt in defeat. "Ow," she whispered.

"Here, wear this. It's my favorite color," I laughed as I pulled out a red dress.

"You like this one?" she asked looking up at me from the floor.

"Yes, I do," I smiled down at her pressing my lips to hers.

"Okay," she sighed.

I helped her up and she slowly made her way down the hall and into the bathroom. That girl I swear. Anything would look perfect on her.

While she continued to get ready in the bathroom, I changed into jeans and a dark sweater. I took a selfie and sent it to Amelia while she was in the bathroom. A few minutes later, I heard her giggle.

"Nick, you look so cute!" she yelled, making me blush.

I headed downstairs and cleaned up what was left to clean in the kitchen. Everyone made sure to help clean before they left to go bowling, but I had to double check. My mom set up the dining table area really nicely before she left too. I think I was just nervous.

"Does this look okay?" I heard a soft voice from behind me and turned around.

"Wow, Yes it does," I replied almost at loss for words.

Even with bruises on her legs and cuts here and there around her body, the dress hugged her curves perfectly.

"You look so beautiful," I added as I began to walk over to her as she rounded off the bottom step slowly.

"I love you," she replied.

I'd be lying if I said my heart didn't flutter at her words.

"I love you too."

As I brought her to me for a kiss, the doorbell rang.

"It's him," she smiled nervously.

Dinner filled itself with laughs and stories of the past. I could tell Amelia was having the time of her life catching up with her father. I still couldn't quite fathom why her mother would do such a thing to her. At least everyone knew the truth now. It took a minute to get past the awkward conversation of how she was feeling and if her meds were helping, but once the conversation picked up, they took it running. We talked about Amelia's college classes, and what she planned to do after graduation. We also talked a little about me and the band, which he was impressed to hear about.

As we finished off the last of the Italian food Mr. Parker had brought for us, I excused myself to the bathroom to give them a few minutes of alone time. Amelia was just like her father in so many ways. They both scrunched up their nose when they laughed. They were both extremely kind for no reason. They looked just like each other too. I was also thankful that my mother had taken such a liking to Amelia too. It was hard not to like her though, her presence alone was enough to make someone smile.

When I got back to the table, Amelia was practically crying due to how hard she was laughing. She looked genuinely happy in that moment. Watching her laugh made something ignite in my stomach. Like a burst of my own happiness came from seeing her happy.

"I'm only in town for another week, but I would love to hang out with you more," Amelia shared as she walked with her dad to the front door.

"I would like that," he replied to her, pulling her into a tight hug.

"I'm so glad that I met you," she replied with watery eyes.

"It's okay, sweetie. Take care of my baby for me. Well, both of them," he winked at me while shaking my hand. "I'll call you tomorrow to see how you're doing," he smiled as he walked out of the door.

We waved goodbye as he pulled his Buick out of the driveway and set on his way home.

"Wow," Amelia stated as she shut the door and continued, "He's amazing."

"He's like the older, male version of you," I chuckled.

Awh Amelia is getting to know her father ❤️
