Amelia had been keeping to herself lately. It had been over two months and she had only visited once for a week. She barely had time to talk to me because of the load of work they bury her in at school. She sent me her grades when she received them though and they were all A's. She was magnificent at writing papers. I figured it would be hard for her when her mother died awhile ago, but she didn't let that effect her at all.
I was worried and I still am. I felt that she might be pushing that sadness away and burying it somewhere deep in her. Amelia was the kind of person that put anyone before herself. Right now, she was profusely putting school before herself.
Alison told me she kept up with her healthy diet and they took walks along the beach for exercise on the weekends and I was so proud of her. If you gave me five classes and put a child in my belly on top of my mother passing the first week of it all, I would've failed. Amelia was doing awesome. She was awesome. She was born for this kind of stuff. She'd been mentioning to me about maybe wanting to be a journalist or editor instead of a teacher and I think that was a great idea. Honestly, I didn't care what she ended up doing as long as she was happy. She was persistent and would be good at anything she set her mind to.
We were two weeks away from Amelia coming to visit for another week and I couldn't be more excited. It was getting chilly here in California, being the middle of October. What was nerve racking was that across the United States, where the mother of my child was, it was hurricane season. She texted me yesterday saying that there was a hurricane forming called Hurricane Micheal. I wasn't too worried about it, until I started keeping up with the news. It was projected to be a bad one and hit within three days.
The boys and I had a pretty busy week planned. We were going to meet with another boy band to talk about a collab. We'd also been working on new music and getting our next tour in order. That was a lot of work in itself.
"Bro, have you been keeping up with the news?" Austin grabbed my attention by stalking into the living room and flopping on the couch.
"Of course, why?"
"That hurricane is supposed to hit near the girls," Zion spoke up from the recording studio, shortly walking out.
"I know. I'm sure it won't be too bad though," I replied nonchalantly.
Amelia said they always hyped up the hurricanes just so people would take it seriously.
"Dude, they're talking about evacuating," Zion spoke harshly.
"What?" I asked somewhat confused.
Amelia told me that it wasn't a big deal and now apparently people are evacuating? Hell no. I dug my phone out of my pocket and walked outside on the back porch dialing Amelia's number.
"Hey, babe." Amelia's cheery voice broke through the phone.
"Hey. So what's the new update with the hurricane?" I asked hoping she would tell me the truth.
I knew that she knew what was happening but knowing how I freaked out over little things sometimes, she was sugarcoating it. A little too much though.
"Well, they are canceling classes for this week due to the storms. I don't want to freak you out but it's supposed to get pretty bad. Right now they have the path of the hurricane making landfall near us sometime on Wednesday. Of course, everyone is freaking out and buying everything from the store or leaving," she explained.
Thank God she was telling me the truth.
"Okay, what's your plan?" I asked.
"Well, Alison and I were either going to ride it out, or go stay with her mom for a few days."
I was kind of let down when I heard those words. I wanted more than anything to have Amelia here with me. To know she was safe.
I did think that a plane ticket for a few days to California would be too expensive and they might even have delays. Maybe it was best that she drove back to Georgia for the week.
"As much as I want you here with me, I think staying would be a crackhead move," I stated seriously as I sat down on the porch chair and leaned on our ping pong table.
"You guys love using that word don't you?" she chuckled.
I found myself playing with the ping pong balls and rolling my eyes to her comment.
"How is school?" I asked changing the subject.
I knew she would make the right decision, there was no need in me hounding her.
"My professors are all extending our assignments to next week because of the storm, but I already did them, so now I'm a week ahead," she laughed.
"Damn, Mela! I'm so proud," I fake cried into the phone making her giggle. "I mean it though, I just want you to know that you've been doing such a good job," I added.
"Thanks baby. I miss you. Well, we miss you. Baby B's been kicking lately."
"He's what? Does it hurt?" My eyes widened to her remark.
The pit in my stomach deepened as well. I wanted to be there for the babies first kick. It was a shame that I couldn't.
"Sometimes he gets a little feisty in there, but I have my ways of calming him down. But yeah, he's kicking."
I could sense her smiling while she elaborated about our son through the phone. I let out a deep breath thinking to myself what it would feel like to have a child inside of your stomach kicking you. Weird.
"You know, he does it often. It won't be long before I'll be there and you get to feel it too," she reminded sweetly.
"I know. I can't wait," I replied hearing a door open on the other end of the phone.
"Hey, Alison just got home from the store, let me talk to her about what the plan will be and I'll text you later. I love and miss you," she rushed.
"I love you, too."
Anyone remember hurricane Michael? If you don't go look it up, just know it was awful.
And sorry about not being active, I got into a wreck last week and I've been so stressed dealing with the insurance claims and all. Plus I'm broke.
I hope everyone is having a better week than me!
Happy update. :)
