Nick
Amelia had been doing an amazing job with handling school since she moved to California. I saw her everyday and I couldn't be more thankful for that. I had to keep her busy this morning while Ansley set up the baby shower at her father's place.
I took her to get breakfast, to the spa, and shopping for awhile. She needed a few larger sweaters to wear since it was the beginning of December and she was huge. She needed something pretty to wear to the shower too. Even though she looked pretty in absolutely anything, even more in nothing. Ansley told me to be back around one o'clock, so that's where we were headed now. Baby showers were typically supposed to be just for the women, I thought, but Ansley insisted on inviting everyone we knew. Her and Alison had been bugging the shit out of me with questions and concerns about this damn shower. They seemed to have everything under control this morning though, I told them to leave me alone today because I didn't want to tip off Amelia but also because I was tired of them.
I did know that Amelia would love any kind of party dedicated to baby B and that she would fawn over anything that Alison or Ansley did for her. Small or big she had always been very sentimental over things like that, but it seemed a lot more lately due to the enhancements coming from her pregnancy. I could go get her some food from the kitchen and she would cry tears of joy. She had been an emotional wreck lately, but not the bad kind. It was actually cute.
I read horror stories online about pregnant women becoming satan during the last trimester, but Amelia was the opposite. It hadn't really enhanced her anger, only her compassion. Although she did get pissy sometimes but caught herself right after and apologized. It was funny to me when her moods would change so quickly. She acted like she didn't have any control over her body. I couldn't imagine, her belly has gotten so big these past two months.
I was also going to surprise Amelia today with keys to our new apartment. Zion had been helping me out with the deposit and everything lately, and keeping it a secret from Amelia and Alison. We found a penthouse, three-bedroom two-bath apartment for a decent price, so I asked him if he would like to move in with us. Of course, he said yes.
I thought it would be nice for us to have our own place, plus the layout of the apartment was pretty sweet, Alison and Zion's room would be on the opposite side of the apartment while Amelia and I's room and Benjamin's room would be on the other side. I was sure they would still be able to hear him cry, but not as much if they were in a room next to him.
Oh well. We would see what happens. I was just super excited to finally tell Amelia and hoped she would like it. I mentioned something about it a few months ago when she was here, but that was when it was just a thought in my head, now it was real. I figured since the band was doing so well, I could afford to live on my own. Of course, with Zion's help as well.
"Are we going home already?" Amelia spoke up from the passenger seat while rubbing her belly soothingly.
                              "Yep."
"Oh okay," she said and looked down at her belly.
Once we pulled into the parking lot, confusion took over Amelia's face as she scanned over all of the cars.
"What's this? I didn't know dad was having a party today?" she asked while clicking the door open and hopping out.
I wished she would've waited on me to get out and open the door for her, but she insisted on doing everything for herself. It was cute seeing her fight for her independence.
                              "Come on."
I couldn't help but smile as my stomach churned with excitement. I grabbed her hand and led her to the front door. I knocked three times and waited about thirty seconds before entering.
"Surprise!" Alison met us at the door bringing Amelia in for a hug.
The surprised look on her face turned into a huge grin when she realized what was happening.
"I knew y'all were being sneaky lately," she said and relaxed her face.
She giggled and walked over to Ansley.
Once we made our rounds greeting everyone, including my mother and sister in law who flew here from New Jersey, we headed to the kitchen to get some snacks.
"Everything looks amazing! You guys even incorporated the theme of the nursery." Amelia began to tear up.
She was in love with the idea of having a light green accent wall along with dark brown furniture and a Winnie the Pooh theme for Benjamin's nursery. I adored her idea.
She had set up a room upstairs near her room since Alison had been staying with Zion for the majority of the time. I found her buying stuff little by little, her favorite thing to buy was little boy clothes. I couldn't disagree with her on that one though, looking through the clothes that she picked out just made me that much more giddy to have him here in our arms. They were so small and cute.
I was happy that she was setting up a room here because I was sure Gwen and Robert would love to have him over sometimes. We would need an occasional night out as well. Gwen gave Amelia Steffi's crib from when she was a baby as a gift and we spent last weekend with Amelia's dad painting it brown to Amelia's liking. I didn't mind though, the joy that radiates off of Amelia was all I needed to do just about anything for her.
I sat beside Brandon on the couch as Amelia began to open her gifts for baby B. Steffi sat beside her on the ground keeping her fully stocked with presents. Steffi had lightened up a hell of a lot since the Waffle House incident. Her and Amelia got along pretty well now. She was like the little sister Amelia never had and Amelia loved it. She went through a bunch of clothes, a stroller, and she even opened some kind of elephant pillow for Benjamin to lay in. Alison and Ansley mainly got monogrammed things like signs and what not for his nursery.
Soon everyone was looking at me.
I wiped my hands down my jeans and stood up walking over to stand beside Amelia. I faced the crowd looking at all of our good friends and family.
"Thank you all for our gifts, we are extremely blessed to have such wonderful family and friends, Benjamin definitely is blessed to have you all in his life as well. I have one more gift for Amelia and I think it's time for her to open it," I said and felt my cheeks get hot as I pulled a wrapped box out of my pocket and handed it to her.
"I can tell the wrapping is yours," she giggled while sliding her finger through the light blue wrapping paper and ripping it open. I rolled my eyes playfully at her comment while our friends laughter filled the room. She began to take the top off of the box revealing to her two sets of keys.
"What is this?" she said and looked up at me.
"It's the keys to our apartment," I replied nervously.
"Really? Oh my gosh, Nick this is awesome," she tried to stand up excitedly.
I extended my arms to her while she grabbed them and pulled me to a hug.
"Wow, our own place," she laughed while looking over at her dad for approval.
He smiled back at her like he didn't know the whole time. He was actually one of the first people I told other than Zion.
"It's a three bedroom, two bath. I figured Zion and Alison could keep us company until they find a place of their own," I added.
"This is perfect, I love you so much." She hugged me again before turning to Alison and letting out a high pitched scream.
I was so thankful she liked it.
"So, when do we move in?" Alison turned to Zion.
"Well, um we've just been fixing everything up this past week, but whenever y'all are ready," Zion shrugged and scratched at the back of his neck.
Amelia looked over at me and her eyes glistened with joy. She was about to cry again.
I wish I had my own apartment. I also wish I was Nick's baby momma. I guess we can't have everything.
