Filch escorts us to the edge of the Forbidden Forest for detention. He drops us off with Hagrid. Harry and I share questionable looks. Draco now turned to Hagrid.

"I'm not going in that forest," he said, and Harry seems pleased to hear the note of panic in his voice.

"Yeh are if yeh want ter stay at Hogwarts," said Hagrid fiercely. "Yeh've done wrong an' now yeh've got ter pay fer it."

"But this is servant stuff, it's not for students to do. I thought we'd be copying lines or something, if my father knew I was doing this, he'd--" Draco begins.

"-- tell yer that's how it is at Hogwarts," Hagrid growled. "Copyin' lines! What good's that ter anyone? Yeh'll do summat useful or yeh'll get out. If yeh think yer father'd rather you were expelled, then get back off ter the castle an' pack. Go on." Hagrid shoves us into the forest. "Now, Neville, Hermione, yer comin with me. Harry, Y/n, Draco, yer going to look in another direction."

"For what Hagrid?" Harry asks.

"A unicorn, we found sum blood yesterday." He states and he walks off with Hermione and Neville.

"Well boys." I start. "Let's start looking." We venture into the forest, silent, looking for anything through the dim light of our lantern. Draco begins to speak.

"Wait till my father hears about this! This is servant stuff." Draco states.

"If I didn't know better Draco, I'd say you were scared." Harry sasses.

"Scared Potter. Did you hear that?" Draco jumps at a noise from the woods.

"Definitely scared Draco." I point out and Harry laughs. Suddenly we look over at a cloaked figure, feasting on a unicorn.

"AHHH!" We all scream as it turns our way. Draco grabs my hand and pulls me away with him, running.

"Draco what are you doing!" I scream, fighting him. "I have to go back!" I break away and run back to Harry. He is on the ground but a centaur saves him.

"Harry!" I scream helping him up. "Are you alright?" I ask. The centaur looks at us.

"My name is Firenze. Harry Potter, Y/n Opes, you must leave. You are known to many creatures here. The Forest is not safe at this time. Especially for you two." He states.

"But what was that thing you saved me from?" Harry inquires.

"A monstrous creature. It is a terrible crime to slay a unicorn. Drinking the blood of a unicorn will keep you alive even if you are an inch from death. But at a terrible price. For you have slain something so pure that the moment the blood touches your lips you have a half-life, a cursed life." Firenze tells us.

"But who would choose such a life?" I say in horror.

"Can you think of no one?" The centaur questions.

"You mean to say that thing that killed the unicorn, that was drinking its blood, that was Voldemort?" Harry asks, mouth wide open.

"Do you know what is hidden in the school at this very moment, Mr. Potter?"

"The Philosopher's Stone!" We say in unison as Hagrid approaches.

"Harry! Y/n!" Hermione screams running up to us.

"Ello 'ere Firenze. See yer met our young Mr. Potter, and Ms. Opes. All right 'ere Harry, Y/n?

"Harry and Y/n, this is where I leave you. You are safe now. Good luck." He says as he trots off. My mind is wandering to what we could need good luck with. Yes, Voldemort is trying to return but what could we do to stop it? Draco and I go to rest in our common rooms as the rest go back to the Gryffindor tower.

The term is continuing pretty normally besides our suspicions about the stone. I exhaust myself trying to convince the trio that Snape is not the culprit. The four of us go everywhere together, besides when I go to my own house room. Draco and I distance ourselves, neither of us have the courage to say why. Honestly, I think it's because I'm spending even more time with the three people he hates most. Our year and even other parts of the school started calling us the 'Golden Quartet', which I must admit is a little weird.

We are eating dinner in the Great Hall when Harry starts acting weird.

"What's wrong?" Ron asks him.

"It's my scar, it keeps burning." Harry states.

"Hasn't this happened before?" Hermione questions.

"Yes but not like this." Harry explains.

"Well, maybe you need the nurs-" He cuts me off.

"I think it's a warning, that danger is coming." Harry says. I roll my eyes.

"By danger you mean Voldemort." I argue. Ron shudders at the name.

"Of course! That's it!" Harry realizes something right as Hagrid approaches us.

"Don't you think it's a bit odd that what Hagrid want more than anything is a dragon and a stranger turns up and just happens to have one? I mean, how many people wander around with dragon eggs in their pockets? Why didn't I see it before? Hagrid, who gave you that dragon egg? What did he look like?" He turns and talks to Hagrid.

"Dunno. He wanted to know what sort of creatures I looked after. And I told him, after Fluffy a dragon's gonna be no problem." Hagrid tells.

"Did he seem interested in Fluffy?" Harry begs.

"Well of course he was interested in Fluffy! How often do you come across three headed dogs do you come across even if you're in the trade? But I told him, I said, I said, "The trick with any beast is to know how to calm him." Take Fluffy for example, just play him a bit of music and he falls straight asleep. I shouldn't have told you that. Where are you going? Where are you---?" Harry gets up and we all follow him. He leads us to McGonagall's office.

"We have to see Professor Dumbledore immediately!" Harry shouts.

"I'm afraid Professor Dumbledore's not here. He received an urgent owl from the Ministry of Magic and left immediately for London." McGonagall explains to us.

"He's gone! But this is important! This is about the Philosopher's Stone!"

"How did you know ---?" I cut her off.

"Someone's going to try to steal it!" I say.

"I don't know how you three found out about the Stone but I assure you it is perfectly well protected. Now would you go back to your dormitories quietly." McGonagall advises us as we walk away in defeat. Harry hands me his invisibility cloak.

"Come meet us after curfew, we go down that trap door, tonight." Harry commands and we all nod in suit. I go back down to my common room, and wait. I try to do my homework but I can't seem to focus.

"You alright Y/n?" Draco asks me,

"Oh, Draco, I didn't know you were there." I reply, not looking up from my books.

"Seems like you never notice me these days." He sulks and I slam my book shut, I don't really have time for this right now.

"I do Draco, well I only see my Hogwarts friends here, but we will see each other loads of times out of school." I reply shortly.

"Oh, okay." He looks at me with puppy eyes, begging for more. I roll my eyes.

"Draco, if I promise to sit at most meals with you for the rest of the term will you leave me be." He seems taken aback by my sternness.

"Yeah, I'll just go study for my Charms final on my own." And that's when it hits me. We agreed to study together for all of the exams and I haven't helped one bit. I've been avoiding him. I'll apologize later. As soon as I notice him gone I pull the cloak over me, and head out to the Gryffindor common room.
