Part 56- Breakdown

Only Alia and Prachi were remaining in Riya's room, Ranbir had recently run out of there without much explanation, saying that he'll come back later to see how Riya was doing. Leaving both Prachi and Alia confused behind him when Robin knocked on the door.

"Alia ma'am the biryani is ready." Robin said coming inside the room.

"Okay just bring a plate up here. I don't want to leave Riya alone." Alia said to which Robin nodded and left.

Robin then came back and put a plate of the dish on the table in Riya's room and left.

"Here you go." Alia said bringing the plate to Prachi and putting it on the bed stand.

"Auntie, I'm really not hungry." Prachi said protesting, she had thought that Alia had got the biryani for herself. But apparently, it was for her. Even though Prachi was hungry she didn't feel like eating until Riya woke up and she knew that Riya was okay. Plus eating would require Prachi to leave Riya's hand and she didn't want to do that even if her life depended on it.

"Prachi, I know that Ranbir was joking but even I can hear the mouses running in your stomach now." Alia said jokingly.

"Auntie I don't want to eat until--." Prachi said trailing off.

"Until Riya gets better." Alia said completing Prachi's sentence. Smiling softly at Prachi's concern for Riya.

"Yeah." Prachi said softly looking down at the floor.

"But then how would you take care of Riya if you get sick yourself by not eating?" Alia asked rhetorically, trying to put some sense into Prachi.

"Uh I-." Prachi said having no response because she knew that Alia was right.

"But you nothing. Sweetheart just eat biryani." Alia told Prachi leaving no room for argument. Surprising even herself at that term of endearment that she had used for Prachi. She had only ever called Riya and Kiara that, but with Prachi, it just felt right to say it and Alia couldn't figure out why.

'Maybe it was because Prachi had reminded me of Riya when she was little and refused to eat.' Alia concluded, thinking to herself.

Prachi realizing that she couldn't get away with not eating, reluctantly let go of Riya's hand to pick up the plate of biryani and began eating.

"Good, the plate should be done by the time I come back." Alia said pretend sternly, leaving the room to call Purab and ask him how it was going with Abhi.

Prachi smiled softly once Alia left the room. Alia had cared for her as a mother would. When Prachi had first met Alia she had been at odds with her. But what Prachi was slowly beginning to learn was that first impressions could be deceiving. Prachi's experiences with both Riya and Alia had taught her that.

Prachi quickly finished the food, to hold Riya's hand again, not realizing when she dozed off in the lightly dim room, her head resting by Riya's, sitting on the chair, holding Riya's hand in her own, even as she slept.

"Abhi... uh, Riya..." Purab said trailing off mid-mid-sentence "What happened to Princess?!" Abhi said now alarmed, quickly standing up from his chair.

"Nothing, Abhi, Nothing. She's fine, but she fainted, the doctor examined her and he said that she was completely fine." Purab said quickly, almost out of breath, regretting his decision to pause mid-sentence
"She fainted?" Abhi merely whispered, all color draining from his face, Abhi looked as if he was going to faint himself.

"I need to see her, I need to be with her!" Abhi said coming back to his senses, almost yelling, trying to rush out of the cabin, but Purab stopped him.

"Abhi, it's not like that. Riya is fine." Purab said trying to calm Abhi down, knowing what he was thinking.

"N- No Purab you- don't understand. Last- last time-- I alm- almost-- lo- lost her. M- my daughter- almost di- died." Abhi said in a shaky voice, tears running down his face as he thought about the past, quickly pushing Purab out of the way, to run out of the cabin, getting in his car, and speeding away, with Purab and Meera trying to catch up to him.

As Alia was about to call Purab, a ruckus coming from downstairs caught her attention, and she walked downstairs to see what was happening, only to see Abhi rushing inside the house with Meera and Purab trying to calm him down.

"Abhi bhai what happened?" Alia asked worriedly, coming to stand in front of him, to halt his movements.

"Alia move out of the way, I need to see Princess!" Abhi said frantically.

"Bhai, Riya is okay, she is fine, she's fine." Alia said cupping Abhi's face in both hands, to get Abhi to look at her. She didn't want Riya to see her father in such a state, so she wanted Abhi to calm down before he went to go see Riya.

"Princess... she can't..." Abhi said breaking down and hugging Alia, as tears streamed down his face when he knew that Alia was telling the truth. Alia couldn't support her brother's weight, so she sat down on the floor with him, still hugging him.

"Your Princess, our Riya is completely okay." Alia said breaking the hug, once Abhi had calmed down, though tears still fell from his eyes which Alia wiped away. "This isn't like last time. Riya's heart is fine. And her heart will continue to be fine because the doctor promised us after Riya's surgeries that the problem won't come back. And even now the doctor checked her heartbeat and he said that the rhythm of her heart is even. This isn't like last time." Alia said affirmatively to which Abhi nodded his head still teary-eyed.

"Yeah Abhi this isn't like last time, God won't be that cruel to you again." Purab said reassuringly coming to sit next to Abhi and Alia on the floor. "The doctor just said that her blood pressure might have gone up, making her faint. Now come on get yourself together, so you can go see your Princess, or if you go in front of Riya like a looking like a crybaby, she'll just make fun of you." Purab said jokingly to lighten the mood, offering a hand to help Abhi get up from the floor.

Once Abhi stood up, Alia did too. And Abhi instantly went up to Riya's room now more calm and collected, but still worried.

"I think I should go to see how Riya is doing too." Meera said worriedly, moving to follow behind Abhi.

"I think we should just let Abhi bhai be alone with Riya for a bit, Meera." Alia said telling Meera to wait. While Purab gave an undefinable smile when Alia stopped Meera from going after Abhi.

Meera just nodded her head, getting the hint, while all of them stayed in the living room to give Abhi and Riya some alone time.
