Part 73- Unlikely Friendships

Aryan and Priyanka both walked into the house at the same time, with a goofy smiles on their faces, for different reasons.

The living room was empty because after having dinner both Alia and Purab had gone to their separate studies to get work done.

Aryan and Priyanka did not even acknowledge each other, because they were too busy thinking about Shahana and Rishi.

'Shahana so likes me, just like I do.' Aryan thought to himself with a bright smile, as he was looking at a heart-shaped balloon in his hands, which Shahana had left behind in the car.

'Rishi loves me, just like I love him.' Priyanka thought to herself with a bright smile, making her way up the stairs, lost in dreamland.

"Riya." Priyanka said excitedly as she barged into Riya's room, about to tell Riya what had happened.

"Ri, guess what happened?" Aryan said just as excitedly, as he too barged into Riya's room.

"Do you know where Riya is?" Priyanka asked Aryan, and both of them finally noticed each other.

"No, I have no idea, do you?" Aryan asked curiously.

"I don't know where she could be, I guess I'll just have to wait for her." Priyanka said taking a seat on a couch that was on the side of Riya's room.

"Same, I'll wait for her too." Aryan said taking a seat on Riya's bed.

After a few minutes of awkward silence...

"I'll tell you what happened, if you tell me what happened." Aryan said to Priyanka, both of them dying to share what had happened with someone else.

"Okay both of us say it on 1." Priyanka said not wanting to be the only one who had to share something if Aryan refused to say it anymore.

"3...2...1!" Priyanka yelled the countdown.

"I just had my first date with Shahana and it was so magical!" Aryan yelled with a dreamy smile.

"Rishi is in love with me!" Priyanka yelled at the same time with a dreamy smile of her own.

"Wait, wait, hold up, Rishi? Rishi from last year? The one who graduated? The one who broke up with you, without any real explanation?" Aryan asked unbelievably.

"Yeah that Rishi. But now we might get back together. I know he loves me." Priyanka said with a soft smile.

"Did he say that he loved you?" Aryan asked confused.

"No, but he didn't have to. His actions told me that he loves me." Priyanka said with a dreamy smile.

"That's so complicated." Aryan said jokingly but was confused for real.

"Wait is Shahana the girl who always sits next to a girl named Prachi in math class?" Priyanka asked curiously, making an undefinable face.

"Yeah, that's the one. We had our first date today and it was so amazing, she even gave me a cheek kiss before leaving, and we even danced but-." Aryan said going on an excited rant, while Priyanka zoned out, lost in thoughts.

'Oh shit! if I'm right about that girl, then not only will Rishi be hurt, but Aryan will be too. Rishi I could handle, but Aryan will be completely heartbroken. Look at how happy he is, he's never been this happy with anyone else. And I can't hurt Aryan like that, he's not only Riya's little brother, but I see him like my little brother too.' One side of Priyanka's mind said distressed.

'But what if Rishi is lying? And there is nothing in between him and that girl? I know that Rishi is lying about not being in love with me. So he can be lying about this too. Maybe to make me back off he's making all this up. But why? Why won't he just be with me if he loves me? I don't know, this is all so confusing. But I do hope that Rishi is the one lying here because it will save everyone a lot of pain.' Another side of Priyanka's mind said hopefully.

'But one thing is for sure. Something is going on here. And I need concrete proof, before I tell anyone, even Riya.' Both sides of Priyanka's mind agreed.

"So yeah it was truly amazing." Aryan said smiling brightly, ending his excited rant as Priyanka came back to reality.

"That's great dude. I'm so happy for you!" Priyanka said, fake excitedly, worry still in her mind. But seeing Aryan's bright smile, even Priyanka gave a small smile.

"Thanks, we should talk more you know, we don't always need Riya to balance us out." Aryan said honestly, now no longer trying to avoid Priyanka, because he now knew that she had feelings for someone else, so whatever plans his Mom had for them would never be possible.

He only regrets not talking to Priyanka sooner, because then he wouldn't have had to play hide and seek in his own home for the last few weeks. So in a way, Riya not being home had worked out in his favor.

"Yeah, we should talk more often." Priyanka said just as honestly.

"Excuse me I have to take this." Aryan said as his phone rang, leaving Riya's room to take the call, leaving Priyanka, who was lost in thought, behind.

"How did you know?" Aryan heard Shahana say when he picked up the phone.

"How did I know what?" Aryan said pretending to be oblivious, as he sat down on his bed.

"Are you really going to pretend to be clueless? You know exactly what I'm talking about." Shahana said looking at the light blue dress in her hand with a soft smile, as she sat down on her bed.

"Okay so I have my ways of figuring these things out, I call it telepathy." Aryan said jokingly.

"Oh yeah sure." Shahana said sarcastically.

"How did you like your surprise though?" Aryan asked curiously.

"Eh, I don't know, maybe I liked, maybe I didn't, I call it indecisiveness." Shahana said teasingly.

"Hey now, Shahana, that's just mean." Aryan said in a whiney voice.

"How did you actually like it?" Aryan asked once more.

"Eh, I don't know, just like you have your 'telepathy' I have my 'indecisiveness' so I guess I'll never know how you knew to buy me these things, and you'll never know how I feel about these things." Shahana said teasingly with a chuckle.

"Sha-." Aryan began to say.

"Goodbye now." Shahana said with a chuckle abruptly ending the call, getting the last word.

'I love your surprise, but you don't need to know that, at least not until you tell me how you knew what to get.' Shahana thought to herself, smiling happily, laying back on her bed, hugging the blue dress close to her.

'She so loves my surprise.' Aryan thought to himself, laying back on his bed, with a dreamy smile.

And so maybe Aryan did have telepathy after all.

At least when it came to Shahana, he did.
