Drishti was getting ready for more job hunting the next morning, when she heard the doorbell ring, wondering who could it be this early in the morning, she opened the door, only to find Riya in front of her. She was pleasantly surprised at seeing Riya again and gave a bright smile.
"Good morning Drishti di, won't you invite me in?" Riya said smiling when Drishti just kept looking at her, not saying anything.
"Oh, yes please come in." Drishti said snapping out of her thoughts and moving to the side to let Riya enter.
"What are you doing here?... I didn't think...." Drishti said trailing off mid-sentence.
"What? Did you think that I wasn't coming back?" Riya said knowing what Drishti was thinking.
"Don't worry Drishti di, I won't run away that quickly." Riya said jokingly.
"Yeah, I know that now." Drishti said chuckling.
"Thank you." Drishti said honestly with emotion, abruptly hugging Riya. Riya smiled and hugged Drishti back tighter to indirectly tell her that she would always be there for her.
"Okay now enough of sentiments, tell me what you're doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at college?" Drishti said once they separated clearing her throat to collect herself.
"Oh, I wanted to tell you that I found a job." Riya told Drishti, not elaborating further because she was afraid of how Drishti was going to react.
"Congratulations!" Drishti said smiling thinking that Riya had gotten a job for herself.
"No... not like that... that came out wrong." Riya said mentally berating herself for her poor word choice, confusing Drishti.
"What I meant to say is... I got found a job... for you." Riya said awkwardly, trying to explain herself. Myra had called her to tell her that a new person in the design department needed a secretary, and Riya had come straight to Drishti's house to tell her this because she didn't want Drishti to waste another day job hunting.
"What do mean you found a job for me?" Drishti said now more confused.
"Yesterday when I came here to return your kurta, I saw a newspaper that had highlighted job openings on it. Don't get me wrong I wasn't trying to pry, the newspapers just fell and when I picked it up, I saw that you were looking for secretary jobs. I only did this because I wanted to help you, please don't get mad." Riya said quickly, out of breath, trying to explain herself.
But Drishti just stood there not giving any reaction, until she finally gave a small smile. Riya was confused by this and voiced her confusion.
"Wait, so does this mean that you're not mad? Riya asked seeing Drishti smile.
"Does this mean you'll take the job?" Riya asked hopefully.
"No." Drishti said still smiling, confusing Riya more.
"What I mean to say is no I won't take the job, but I'm smiling because I'm happy that you thought so much about me." Drishti said elaborating on seeing Riya's confusion.
"But why won't you take the job? It's a good job with a great salary." Riya said in a whiney voice, not understanding why Drishti didn't want the job.
"I know that, but I want to get a job on my own merit, I don't want the job as a favor for saving you, I already told you that I didn't want anything in return for that." Drishti said gently, trying to get Riya to understand.
"But I'm not doing this as a favor, I'm doing this because I care about you Drishti di." Riya said honestly, holding Drishti's hands in her own, causing Drishti to smile.
