"Oh... Uncle... they..." Prachi said trailing off, not knowing what to say, giving Riya a death stare, Riya's head still on her lap, so Riya couldn't even run away if she wanted to. While Drishti just looked at them confusedly, wordlessly putting the tray that she was holding on the bed stand, standing by the bed.
"They what Prachi?" Abhi asked sternly.
"Uh- ask them yourself, Drishti di is here, talk to her." Prachi said quickly, half throwing the phone at Drishti if it wasn't for Drishti's fast reflexes the phone would've broken. While Prachi breathed a sigh of relief at not having to answer Abhi.
"Uh- hello?" Drishti said putting the phone to her ear, not knowing who she was talking to, raising an eyebrow at Prachi and Riya's weird behavior.
"Oh hi, Drishti beta, how are you?" Abhi asked with a smile.
"I'm good Uncle. How are you?" Drishti asked smiling softly, recognizing that it was Riya's dad.
"I'm great. Where were you though? Prachi told me that you had gone somewhere else." Abhi said confused, knowing that something was going on.
"Oh, I was in the kitchen making khichdi for Rooh because she-" Drishti began to say about to tell Abhi about Riya's fever. But stopped when she saw Prachi frantically shaking her head, and saw Riya putting a finger over her own mouth, telling her not to say anything, looking at both of them in confusion.
"Because she likes--." Drishti said trying to figure out what Prachi and Riya were trying to say as they made weird hand gestures, almost playing a game of charades.
"Because she likes khichdi." Drishti said happily, having guessed what they were trying to say, making both Prachi and Riya smile in victory.
"Princess likes khichdi? Since when?" Abhi asked jokingly but he was confused as to what was going on.
"I'm not lying to Uncle." Drishti whispered yelled covering the phone with one hand, realizing why Prachi and Riya were acting weird, as they started to do weird hand gestures again.
"Well, Rooh likes my khichdi." Drishti said guiltily, lying to Abhi, melting at Prachi and Riya's cute pouts, shaking her head to tell them that she was going to make them pay for this. While both Prachi and Riya breathed a sigh of relief.
"So are you saying that my khichdi is bad and that's why Princess doesn't like it?" Abhi asked jokingly to mess with Drishti, believing her lie.
"No Uncle I didn't mean it like that." Drishti said quickly, thinking that she was in trouble.
"I'm just kidding with you, calm down." Abhi said with a chuckle.
"What Uncle? That was mean." Drishti said in a whiney voice.
"Okay, sorry, now how is that khichdi by the way?-" Abhi asked, he and Drishti talking about other things now.
******
"This is all your fault. First, you made me lie. Now you're making Drishti di lie." Prachi whispered yelled at Riya, as Drishti talked to Abhi.
"Hey now Pikachu, don't blame me for this. It was you who stole my phone from me and picked up the call. Or else my alien abduction plan might have worked." Riya said in all seriousness.
"Who in their right mind would believe that you got abducted by aliens and left your phone behind, idiot?" Prachi asked making a face.
"You never know, it might have worked." Riya said in all seriousness, causing Prachi to facepalm. Prachi then watched Drishti talk to Abhi with a regretful face, having done the same thing to Drishti that Riya had done to her.
As Prachi was looking at Drishti, she didn't see her phone which was on the bed vibrate, however, Riya did and she picked up the phone, smiling happily at seeing who was calling.
******
Pragya breathed a sigh of relief when Prachi picked up her phone but was surprised by who she heard on the other side of the phone.
"Hello, Anuradha auntie." Pragya heard Riya say.
"Hi beta, may I know where you have taken Pari?" Pragya asked curiously, with a smile.
But Pragya only heard silence and some awkward shuffling which made her forehead crease in confusion, what Pragya did not know was that Prachi was trying to take her phone back from Riya, but Riya wasn't letting her.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. We're at Drishti di's house to celebrate her new job." Riya said when Prachi stopped trying to get her phone back.
"Oh Drishti from Diwali. She seemed like a nice girl. I'm glad that she got a new job! Where is she? Can I talk to her?" Pragya asked happily wanting to congratulate Drishti.
"Drishti di is talking to my Papa right now." Riya informed Pragya.
"Your Dad is also there?" Pragya asked confused.
"Oh no, that came out wrong, I meant to say that Drishti di is talking to my Dad on the phone. He called a few minutes ago." Riya elaborated.
"Oh okay, I understand now." Pragya said with a smile nodding her head in understanding.
"Where is Pari? Can I talk to her?" Pragya asked curiously, wanting to make sure that Prachi was okay.
"No I'm not giving the phone back to her, she's been teasing me the whole day, and this is the revenge for that." Riya said jokingly, moving away from Prachi again as she tried to take her phone back.
"Oh, that's a good way to get revenge." Pragya said jokingly, playing along.
"I know right? Thank you!" Riya yelled happily.
"Okay since I'm already talking to you, someone told me that you wanted to cheat on a test, is that true?" Pragya asked abruptly, in a stern tone, shocking Riya, and causing Riya to make a regretful face.
So it was true what they say, karma was unforgiving.
