The Amarian Empire, home to the followers of only one goddess that all of the residents deemed to be the supreme deity, Amaris, the goddess of light. There was no exception to this belief, no matter how misleading or inaccurate it was. Anyone who says otherwise would be deemed a heretic and was either banished or executed.
The Empire was founded near the end of the War of the Gods. Before the empire was created, it was previously a Kingdom called Metronia. In this Kingdom, there were several gods worshipped there, and due to the war, Metronia was the most infighting country in the world at the time.
Nearing the end of the War of the Gods, there was a massive battle in Metronia named the battle of Bellmore. The battle lasted four days and three nights with four sides fighting one another. The Followers of the God of War, God of luck, God of Storms, and goddess of light all fought one another at the city of Bellmore.
The followers of Asher, the god of luck, were, ironically, the first to surrender. The next to give up were the followers of Gale, the god of storms. The only ones left were the followers Valdr, the god of War, and Amaris, the goddess of light.
The fight between the two lasted for two days, and the overall condition of the city was devastating. You couldn't even call it a city by the end of their fight. The majority of the buildings were destroyed, the land was in ruins, and the human casualties went through the roof.
After all the destruction they brought, the ultimate winner of the battle were the followers of Amaris. The Champions of War and Light went up against one another, but the Champion of Light won, though nearly lost if she hadn't pulled a fast one on the Champion of War.
Once the battle was over, and later on the war, the followers of Amaris then founded their new nation that stands before the other countries today. Despite the other countries being more benevolent and tolerant of other religions aside from their own, the residents of the Amarian Empire remained the same, not accepting any other god except Amaris.
The neighborhood countries felt a little intimidating because of the Empire's resolve to staying the same even after the war. They were afraid that the country would try to invade them in order to finish the job, but thankfully, due to the leaders of all counties and Champions taking a sacred oath, the Theocracy never got a chance to invade.
However, because of this oath, the other countries couldn't do much about the Amarian Empire's rules and laws which were a bit...excessive. Residents of the country highly despise non-believers of their goddess to the point where they were discriminated. The worst possible scenario that happened was a sort of public execution, which caused a bit of an uproar in the other nations.
Because of the citizens' mindset in the country, they were convinced that any non-believer were heretics and deserved no kindness or mercy from them. So, unless the outsider wanted to become a follower, they were treated with violence.
The other leaders tried to persuade the ruler of the Empire to take fewer extreme actions when dealing with outsiders, but it was all for naught, because of how stubborn and determined they were about their rules and policies. In the end, the leaders of the neighboring countries gave up on reasoning and outright ignored the Kingdom.
Soon after, the people outside the religion-based country avoided the place at all costs. Although it wasn't ideal, it was necessary due to the circumstances. There were a couple incidents that caused a little turmoil between the theocracy and one of the other nations, but none of them resulted in another war, so everything was more or less peaceful.
As long as the people steered away from the Empire, there was nothing to worry about. It was too much of a hassle to deal with the nations' cruel and extreme ways, so they were pretty much excluded from any relations with the other countries. Thankfully, the Nation of Amaris could care less about relations with non-believers, and the neighboring countries didn't seek to be friends with people who kill outsiders because they don't agree with their ethics and such, so for once, they all agreed on something.
