Chapter 85: The Fox From Askon

"Why is someone from Askon calling for me?" That doesn't make any sense. I've never even been to Askon.

There was that time I was on the hunt from the kingdoms, and I decided to head over there, but before I could, we solved that problem. Still, that doesn't explain why someone from Askon would ask for my presence.

"We aren't sure ourselves," Zami stated. "She just showed up as if out of thin air and asked for an audience with the King."

"That sounds pretty bold."

"It was," Clare agreed. "However, once she said she was from Askon, we had no choice but to let the King see her. That's when she requested your presence."

Is being from Askon that big a deal? Then again, I've never been there, so I can't really judge them for doing it.

Still, there's something off about this. One of them is why this person wants me. I'll say it again, but I don't know who this person is.

I also don't know anyone from Askon, so why would someone there ask for me? This is seriously suspicious.

"Is there a way I can decline the summons?" I asked.

When I said this, both Zami and Clare tensed up. Just so you know, I didn't release any bloodlust, so this wasn't my doing. It seems like it was my question that set them off.

"Damien..." Zami spoke up. "I don't want to sound forceful, but please, just come over to the Castle and meet with this person."

Zami sounds kind of scared. Did this Fox-folk blackmail them or something? No, that doesn't appear to be the case.

She's even being pushy about the subject, although reluctantly, which she usually doesn't do. I guess that shows how serious this matter is.

Still, I don't like what's going on here. I could very well just not go, but something told me that would be a bad move.

[Hey, guys, what do you think I should do?] I asked my parallel minds.

{To be honest, since we don't know a lot, I would say go and meet this person.}

{I'll have to agree with Alpha on this. Considering the circumstances, we have no information as to why this mysterious Fox-folk person wants us.}

{I-I agree as well...}

{I see no issue. Besides, if we do run into trouble, we can just kill her!}

Damn...I guess I got no choice. I'll be ignoring Gamma's statement, though. That's a bit extreme.

"Fine, I'll meet with this person. What's her name, anyway?"

"She said her name was Kuzunoha," Zami replied. "A-also, she says you can use your [Gate] spell to head over to the Kingdom. It seems she's in a bit of a hurry and requires your presence post haste."

How does she know about [Gate]? Well, then again, I am Zerris's Champion, so maybe it's just general knowledge that I would be able to use Space Magic.

Still...I can't shake this uneasy feeling. Before I go meet this Kuzunoha, I need to prepare myself for the worse.

[Thana, what are you doing right now?] I called Thana through telepathy.

[I'm playing with Lilith in the living room. We're using the dolls you got for her and playing House!]

Using [Monitor], I checked the living and confirmed Thana's statement. They were definitely playing with the dolls. It was honestly pretty cute, and it made it harder for me to call for her.
