Zemmi slashed Backbone at Maram, who blocked it with her bare hands. Nocticula then used that moment to fire a magic spell at both of them.

Zemmi backed away, only getting Maram hit. Sadly, once the smoke was gone, the wendigo was not even wounded from the attack.

"You sure you should be using your magic like that?" Maram asked. "You're only feeding mother."

"Not like I have much of a choice. Besides, this was bound to happen anyway, so I'm doing it on my own terms!"

"You idiot!" Zemmi chided. "You're only going to make Maram stronger as well! Famine and her creations are linked, so if you strengthen Famine, you strengthen them too!"

What Zemmi said was correct. Because of Famine's connection with her creations, she can pass her strength to them, making them stronger as well. What Nocticula was doing not only benefiting Famine, but also their current opponent.

Maram rushed over at Zemmi, trying to stab her chest with her hand. Zemmi quickly blocked the attack with Backbone but got pushed back and crashed into the nearest wall.

"Zemmi!" Nocticula cried out before summoning a barrier to stop Maram's next attack.

"That's right, keep using magic! This barrier will be taken down in no time!" Maram laughed as she bashed at the barrier, causing some cracks.

"Don't leave me out of the party!" Zemmi appeared, swinging her blade at the ground near Maram.

She caused a huge quake, causing the ground itself to split apart. This caused Maram to retreat from her assault on Nocticula.

"Hahaha! Amazing! Despite holding back, you can still cause so much damage! As expected from Bahamut's fang. Your battle prowess never ceases to amaze me."

"Grrr..." Zemmi was in a bind.

With how things are going, she might have to release her seal placed by the gods. But, if she did that, she'll definitely give Famine more power.

And yet...she can't help but want to go all out in this fight.

"Don't get distracted, fool!" Maram appeared before Zemmi, delivering a kick to the stomach.

Zemmi only had enough time to brace herself before getting kicked away. But, she managed to recover as she plunged her sword into the ground, slowing herself down from the force.

After coughing up some blood, she gripped Backbone tightly. It's been a long time since she's been in such a bind.

Zemmi has lived for thousands of years. Longer than most of the oldest beings of this world. After the war, the gods created what she called The Second-Generation. And compared to First-Generation beings like herself, they were beyond weak.

Even the second-generation dragons were no match for her. After a little while, Zemmi pretty much became one of the strongest beings in the world and was given the title, The Invincible Dragon.

To be honest, Zemmi never really liked the title. It was because she didn't feel like she earned it, since everyone around her were made weak by the gods. The title felt meaningless.

She's only ever faced off against a strong opponent before the gods took over. She faced a lot of enemies back then and both lost and won those fights. But now, she could easily kill a person with just a punch.

She rarely felt the thrill of fighting like before. The only times she's truly struggled against something in the newly made world was against beings like the Children of Zerris. Then there's Damien, who had the power of the first elder.
