It was early in the morning. The sun was poking through the window and practically blinding me in the process, causing me to wake up. Of course, due to the sun being the one waking me up, I was a little more irritable than usual.
"Man, I wish I could sleep a little more..." I grumbled to myself while getting out of bed.
There was actually another reason why I was so annoyed this early in the morning. It was because today was the first day of the Festival.
To make matters worse, the first god that the people are celebrating for is none other than Zerris's sister, Amaris; the goddess of Light. I've never even met Amaris, but for some reason, I just feel irritated and annoyed by hearing her name.
It could be that I'm Zerris's Champion, and since her and Amaris are sister rivals, I'm assuming anyone with relations with them will likely hate the other party as well.
This is just me speculating, honestly. I could probably ask Amy or Arri about it since both of them are daughters of Zerris, but I decided to save the topic for another time. A time when we're not busy.
Anyway, after getting dressed and walking down the stairs and towards the living room, everyone else was already there. They were all eating breakfast at the table.
I was a little surprised that all of them were here before me. I wouldn't be surprised if they were all sleeping right now, but they were up and about. They looked more awake than I was.
"Good morning, Master," Amy was the first to notice me, and she then greeted while sipping on some tea.
"Morning," I said while walking over to them.
The others greeted me as well, so I responded in kind as I sat down to ate with them. It seems that our current meal was pancakes. I don't actually remember eating pancakes in my old world, or at least pancakes that didn't look like it's been expired for over a week.
There were three layers of pancakes on my plate with a small square piece of butter melting on top. There was a syrup cup in the middle of the table, so I grabbed it and poured some on my pancakes.
I then dug into my fluffy-looking pancakes. To summarize my impression of the pancakes, they were really good. The texture was nice and soft, and the syrup made it even better.
To be honest, I've never had any pancakes like this in my old world. Then again, the ones I had in my previous world was out of some box, which, again, had been expired for about three to four weeks.
While I was enjoying my breakfast, Vlad and the others decided to discuss our plans for today.
"So, we're going to be on patrol duty, right?" Vlad asked.
"I think so," I answered. "We're simply looking for anything out of the ordinary, correct?"
"That sounds about right. We also need to keep an eye out for Drake. Since he'll likely be the cause of the disturbance, dealing with him will wrap things up really nicely." Although I say this, I've never encountered this Drake guy before, so I don't exactly know what he's capable of.
Since he's a Child of Fable, his forte is tricks and illusions. Instead of fighting us head-on, he'll likely resort to illusions and manipulation. And with the festival and everything, he can cause a big uproar with ease.
If I can somehow find him during the Festival, I can easily appraise him with [Map] and get a better understanding of what he's capable of doing. For now, though, I'm kind of flying blind.
I guess I'll have to tread lightly.
Once we were done eating, Vlad and I decided to leave the mansion and head towards the Festival. Before we left, Emma approached us.
