All right, once we got inside, I walked towards one of the corners of the library near the entrance. At the corner, there was a sofa chair and a nightstand with a book on it.

Sometimes, the maids would come in and clean the whole library, which also means they put the book I was currently reading back on the shelf, which was a pain in the ass to find. So, I told all the maids to keep any book on that nightstand right where it was.

Anyway, once I found my spot at the corner, I quickly sat down on the chair. Raven, in turn, rushed over and lied next to my feet. While she made herself comfortable, I grabbed the book on the nightstand to read it.

It was a red book with gold emblems on it. Even the engraved letters were coated in gold, which gave the whole book a yellow glow to it. The book in question was called "The War of the Gods".

That's right, this book is about the war that started the whole champion business in the first place. The very same war that caused all the countries to fight one another in the name of the gods' they worshipped.

To give a brief summary of what I've read so far, the war started because of this single individual. His name was Jacob Riverdale, and he was one of the gods' worshippers, specifically The God of Luck, Fatum.

Jacob was known for being a worshipping fanatic when it came to Fatum. He would do anything to appease him and get his recognition. Above all else, he didn't show mercy to people who disrespected his god.

Jacob's affection for Fatum was practically famous and above any other worshippers. Not even the most fanatic god lovers had his amount of love he has for his god. This is mainly because Fatum took an interest in the guy.

When Jacob was a little boy, he suffered a horrible childhood. Before he became double digits, his entire family was killed in a massive storm that destroyed an entire town. After that, he was soon adopted by his new family, who were nobles.

Later on, which was about a year after his adoption, Jacob was kidnapped by bandits who demanded money from his noble family. However, his parents didn't comply with the ransom and tried to secretly save him.

This resulted in a bloodbath between a group of bandits and the noble family's personal army. The casualties were severe on both sides, but it appeared the bandits have won.

After the assault at their base, the remaining bandits hunted down Jacob's adopted family and slaughtered them in front of him, leaving him alive and along just like before. At this point, Fatum noticed the boy's situation and took pity on him.

The god of luck then sent a divine punishment on the bandits involving a massive case of misfortune. The remaining bandits were then killed off by one unlucky event after another until they were no more.

The god of luck then sent a messenger to Jacob and guided him to one of his sanctuaries or churches. During his years at the church, Jacob became a faithful and loyal worshipper to his god, Fatum.

He saved many people and brought them to the church to either recover or become followers to Fatum. He did not force people to join, merely offered, and yet most of the people he saved became Fatum's followers as well. It must've been the blessing of Fatum that helped him with that.

Anyway, back to how the war started, it was actually a dispute between two followers of different gods. Jacob Riverdale, The god of luck's follower, and Charles Trapper, The god of war's follower.

To give you a little information about Charles Trapper, he is a General to the Helsing Kingdom, and he was one of the most devoted followers to the God of War. In fact, he was offered immortality by the god of war like Zemmi was, but it seemed that he refused.
