The first thing that Nocticula noticed when she woke up was that she was currently chained against a wall and is locked away in some cell. Looking around, she also noticed that none of her other allies were with her. She was the only one in this room.

She doesn't remember much of what happened before that led to this, but she does remember her group getting attacked before passing out. Her consciousness faded slowly as she watched her allies get ambushed by mysterious people.

This raises a couple of questions. What in the world was strong enough to put Nocticula to sleep? Although she was weakened by the gods, she was still a First-Generation Witch. Not only that, but she was the first of her kind, making her even more of an exception.

And yet, whatever she was hit with, knocked her as if she was a normal human. This meant that there was more to this island than meets the eye.

There were also the chains that were on her. She tried to use magic, and she was unable to cast any spells, meaning these were Elder-Grade magic dampening chains.

There was just one surprise after another. Nocticula would soon realize that this island was full of surprises, and none of them were good for her.

She continued looking around, trying to figure out a way to escape. Suddenly, the entrance of the dungeon cell opened up and two people appeared before her.

One was a monkey-folk and the other was what appeared to be a Dragonnewt. Nocticula was about to say something until she felt their auras. They were so powerful, that any words that tried to escape her lips choked in the back of her throat.

How were they so powerful?! Just being in their presence made Nocticula feel intimidated.

"It looks like your awake now," The Dragonnewt noted. "You were the last of your group to wake up."

"W-what happened to-ngh?!" Nocticula was worried about her group and tried to get information about them, but before she could, she felt an incredible force stop her from talking.

"I don't recommend speaking unless I ask you to," The Dragonnewt said with a cold look on his face. "Unless I ask you a question, you will remain quiet, understood?"

"A-agh....h-hah..." The pressure was starting to overwhelm the witch. However, she did not give in. After taking a few deep breaths, she looked up at the Dragonnewt and glared at him. "Do...not...underestimate me...bastard."

Nocticula's reaction caused the Dragonnewt to grin. The same went for the monkey-folk, who looked a bit surprised to see this.

"You got some spirit. A couple of your friends showed the same reaction."

"What...happened to them..." Forcing herself to speak, she questioned the Dragonnewt about her group.

"They're still alive. Though, whether they stay that way or not depends on you."

"And what is that..."

"Answer my questions honestly. You do that, and I'll guarantee their safety. If you lie, then we'll deal with you accordingly." An evil smile appeared on the Dragonnewt's face.

"What do you want..." Nocticula could feel the pressure lessen, allowing her to speak clearly.

"Why did you come to Askon? Mainlanders usually keep their distance from this island. Especially when they hear about how their ships and people get killed before arriving at the shores."

This much was true about the Island in the East known as Askon. Whenever mainlanders tried to visit the island, they never make it, and no survivors live to tell the tale.
