"Remind me again why we're doing some stupid human quest?" Ukwtakun asked, sounding annoyed.
"Because it's our job and our source of income," I told him. "That and if you want to keep eating and living under my house, you need to work for it."
"Bollocks..."
My group and I were currently heading to the adventurers guild so we could do a quest. It was the usual group with Amy, Vlad, Thana, and I along with the wendigo siblings. The reason why I'm having Ukwtakun and Maram helping us with quests is so they can stop freeloading in my house.
All they ever do is eat, sleep, and do nothing else. And let me remind you that their appetite puts a serious strain on my wallet to the point where I had to use monster meat to feed them and take money from bandits I defeat when I'm Alastor.
I'm pretty sure the money I had when I raided that damn goblin's base when I first came to this world was all gone. And he had a ton of treasure in that little base of his.
Thankfully, those bandits made a living on stealing things, so I managed to save my wallet before things got too dire. But, I can't allow these guys to just stay at my home without working.
That's when I put my foot down and got the siblings to actually work. In exchange for doing adventuring jobs, they get to eat the food from my house.
This is also a way to keep them in their place since they'll cause trouble if I don't place some rules for them to follow or else.
"I suggest you stop complaining, Ukwtakun," Maram advised. "Our master is in charge of us and mother. Angering him will be your downfall."
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I just don't see why we have to do these bloody quests. That's a human task, isn't it?"
"I'm not having you guys living with us for free anymore. You want to eat and sleep under my roof, you're gonna work for it just like everyone else."
"Tch..." Although Ukwtakun clicked his tongue, he complied with my orders and followed us over to the Adventurers Guild Building.
Once we arrived, we entered the building and went over to the board. Just before we were about to look for a quest, we ran into Zemmi, who seemed to be looking for a quest at the board as well.
"Hey, Zemmi," I called out to her.
"Oh? Hey, guys!" Zemmi waved at us. "What are you doing here?"
"Picking out a quest."
"Hmm?" Zemmi soon noticed Ukwtakun and Maram were with us as well. "Why are they here?"
"Oh, I got sick and tired of them eating all the food and making me buying so much more to the point of going broke. So, I'm having them do some jobs to make up for it.
"That definitely makes things easier," Zemmi laughed. "Though, I didn't expect Ukwtakun of all people to comply with that."
"Well, I was very persuasive in getting him to become an adventurer," The moment I said this, I noticed Ukwtakun turn pale and shake a little with fear.
Obviously, when I first suggested the adventurer gig to the siblings, they didn't really find that idea worth it. Well, I say both of the siblings, but it was mostly just Ukwtakun that was against it.
Maram seemed fine with it since she knew herself that she was just freeloading and took the offer. Ukwtakun, on the other hand, was very difficult to deal with on the subject.
When I told him that if he didn't work, I'd kick him out, he just out and said he'll just start eating people. He truly was deviant when it comes to following orders.
