Part one-chapter thirteen: unbearable pain

(Ik i havent been the most clear abt ppls ages but y/n, natsu, Gajeel and gray are 19, lucy, levy, and juvia are 18 and Erza and Mira are 20 and Laxus is 22. From there you can figure out everyone else's ages)

By far the most difficult part of getting to Laxus was avoiding Freed's enchantments, all the meanwhile trying to explain to the townspeople that everything going on today was for prepping for the festival.

When i had gotten to the cathedral I walked in slowly, my chin up, refusing to show any sign of fear. Even though i was fearful, but not of what you'd expect. I wasn't scared of Laxus. Not in the slightest. However, i was scared of hurting him, i was scared of my emotions and my relationship with him tanking because of this.

Years ago I had found a brother in Gajeel but, after that, Laxus was all i really had. Sure i had formed a close friendship with Natsu and everyone else in the guild...but Laxus was the only one who took up that big brother role.

But this is excessive.

"Tch i was wondering when one of you would show up, although i was hoping you'd show up later"

"Cut the shit Laxus, you're being dramatic. You're deliberately putting the entirety of magnolia in danger."

"Oh yeah? And what're you gonna do about it? From what ive been told you've gotten weaker too. How disappointing, my own mentee."

Laxus sent a shockwave my way, I jumped out of the way and wrapped a chain around his foot  yanking him into a pillar successfully. I didnt even give him a second to collect his bearings, I immediately wrapped another chain around his arms and legs and pulling him toward me.

"Laxus I really dont want to hurt you...just stop this...please"

He moved slightly so that way he would fall on-top of me, i moved out the way and released him from the chains.

"Fine then."

I dashed toward the blonde and rushed him, leaving as many hits as I could, although, i was receiving more in return.

"Cmon kid you gotta be quicker than that"

"Laxus, shes just a little girl, i dont think she should be fighting you right now...bickslow and I will spar with her, later on she'll work her way up to you and Freed."

"Not it's okay, i got this"

I got into a defensive stance and waited for Laxus to make the first move.

Before he could hit me I wrapped my chains around his legs, causing him to fall.

"Nice job brat, doesn't mean we're finished yet"

"Y/n!"

"Erza! What took ya so long?"

"Nevermind that, Laxus, this needs to stop"

Laxus looked to both of us and laughed maniacally, I hate to admit it, but it scared me. Just from looking at him I could tell he had lost his sense of humanity, he looked the same way Gajeel did when we fought...except Laxus wasn't gonna hold back or give into his emotions.

Erza and I stood side by side as she switched into her lightning empress armor, I used my chains to lift me up toward the roof of the cathedral all while the requip wizard rushed him from the front, giving me a small window to swoop down and take the upper hand.

Mystogan walked in and began to have a one on one with Laxus, both of the men seeming to forget about us. It seemed like Laxus was going to lose, until mystogans mask ripped, i almost gasped which would have given my position away, so i held it in.

"I am not Jellal, however I know of him"

And just like that he left, in a panic. I glanced down for a second and noticed Laxus going into an offensive position, one that I happen to see him in regularly when we go out on S class missions together.

If I let that hit her, she'll be unconscious for a long time, or worse...she'll die

At that point i didn't care if I was giving away my position, i swooped down and pushed Erza out of the way just in time, I took the hit instead.

It was unnatural, the level of pain I was experiencing was unnatural. Hundreds or thousands of bolt of lightning impaled my body, I couldn't help but scream. It had been such a long time since I had felt this level of pain. Even if it only lasted a few seconds.

I felt my limp body make contact with the floor below me, soot covered the ground beneath me and I felt a hand grasp my arm and lift me up. I guess the sound of the lightning crackling so close to me did a number on my ears, all I could hear was faint shouting from what I could hear it was a mans voice. I could only imagine who that was.

I slowly opened my eyes and saw Erza standing there and summoning dozens of swords and aiming for the thunder palaces in the sky.

"Hey freed?"

"Yes y/n?"

"What're those things you put in the sky? And why are we leaving? Our job is to defeat the entirety of this dark guild"

"Well you see this is called the thunder palace, i set up an enchantment around their guild so nobody with their guildmark could leave. In about three hours the thunder palace will go off defeating all of them at once, and if they try to hit it or destroy it, it will use about 500 volts of lightning to hit the person who attempted to destroy it."

"Woah...thats crazy..."

"Indeed, you'll be please to know laxus came up with the idea on his 20th birhtday celebration last year"

"That guy is insane, go figure Laxus came up with it"

I stood up slowly and summoned multiple chains from my hands, using as much magic energy as I could. I then heard Erzas voice in my head, and then a few minutes later, Warrens.

If i summoned more I would collapse so I finally decided to release them. The sound of glass shattering and filled my ears as I slowly drifted off into unconsciousness, only to be interrupted by lightning frying up my entire body. On top of my already lethal injuries the pain was unbearable, I couldn't even hear my own screaming, the ringing in my ears were too strong. The last this I felt was someone lofting me over their shoulder.

"Jeez y/n you sure are one dumbass kid...im sorry for lyin to ya..."
