Part three-chapter ten: purification plan

Our friend opened the door, pulling out an exclusive communication Lacrima that was only available to people on the council and those in higher society. He released us from our remaining restraints, all while talking to someone on the phone.

The black markings on his skin disappeared after a few seconds and his eyes returned to a more lively version of their original color. Natsu shouted at the ice mage before he handed him the phone, putting it on speaker.

All of us were astounded to hear the voice of our red headed friend, discussing how we had almost blown his cover completely.

"You didn't really think I'd join some creepy Zeref cult, did you?"

I laughed and walked in front of Gray, placing my hand on his shoulder and punching him in the gut, pulling him into a hug immediately after.

"I had my doubts, but I knew you were still the same when you loosened the cuffs on my ankles, so thank you. But don't ever try and threaten me again." I said, the ice mage weakly composed himself, leading us outside Avatar's base and (with the help of some boars) traveled farther from the base. There were only three so Lucy and I were on one while Natsu and Happy shared the other.

Erza then explained that their plan was actually a favor for Jellal, he had asked her if she could look into Avatar and see what their connections to Zeref are. And, by some miracle, she had reconnected with Gray.

Natsu then pointed out Juvia, confronting Gray about how she had been incredibly worried about him for the past six months. I noticed a small twitch in Gray's nose before he began to look down toward the reigns of his boar, i frowned a bit before Erza had explained that she had asked Gray to not tell anyone about it, it would lead to smaller success rate and ultimately, would put the water mage in harms way.

Gray the clarified on how Avatar is divided into certain branches, so they couldn't take them out all at once. That is, until today, during the execution of the purification plan.

We exited the forest, continuing through the plains. Gray looked toward both Lucy and I giving a shy smile before apologizing to Lucy and myself, revealing that just in case he wouldn't have made it back on time, he loosened the cuffs on my ankles so I could easily tamper and break them. The two of us accepted the apology, i then peered my head over Lucy's shoulder, calling for Gray.

"Whats up?"

"We were in Margaret a few days ago and these thugs tried to kidnap the kids in the name of Avatar... then you and that blonde dude were talking about it too, what do they want with my kids?"

"Well you probably know that most of the bigger cultist groups have an alliance, so its possible Tartaros had passed on some information to Avatar about your powerful bloodline thing... Jerome never explicitly told me about any plans with them... just that he wanted to use their possible potential of power"

I nodded, thanking Gray for clarifying before Natsu rode ahead, clenching the reigns of the boar tightly before shouting.

"I cant wait to kick some Avatar ass!"

I sat down on the floor, staring up at the rather large group of Avatar members on a nearby cliff, charging toward us. Happy sat down beside me, fiddling with one of the sleeves of the coat.

"Aren't ya gonna get up n/n?"

"Not yet happy, i'm gonna let them have their fun first" i said, pointing toward my excited husband who gave me a large grin before creating a large shot a fire, easily wiping out a few goons before it exploded outward, hitting at least a hundred more.
