Part two-chapter twenty nine: their own path

The three of us walked by the rubble of our guildhall, its been six months. Slowly people were beginning to leave the guild to pursue their own paths in life. Just last week Gray, and Juvia had left, much to everyone's dismay.

Things have been progressively becoming more difficult, everyone around me was breaking down, falling apart, it was overwhelming. Gray's exit was heavier on Natsu more than anyone else. Erza would stop by once every few weeks to make sure we were doing okay, he never broke down when she would stay, but when she left he couldn't keep it together.

Last night was a prime example.

"Its like Tartaros all over again! Everybody is leaving me! leaving us! We're supposed to be a family, family stays together! We support each other!" He cried, I knelt down beside him, supporting his body as he continued to cry onto my shoulder.

I stayed quiet, the last thing I wanted to happen was it leading into an even bigger spiral.

"That stupid streaker bastard needs to come back so I can kick his ass!" He cried out, I looked down at him as he then placed a hand on my baby bump, using his magic to give it it's desired warmth.

He began to whisper toward it, crying softly as he did so.

"They'll come back, you just need to believe they will."

Natsu opened the front door, waiting for Igneel and I to step inside before he entered. All of us going into our respective rooms.

The pink haired mage and I rested on our bed, his arms around my waist and his face right above my bump. I gently caressed his hair as I began to hear snoring come from him, it was amazing to be able to see him so relaxed and content.

Suddenly my communication Lacrima began to ring, I grabbed it off the bedside table and put it up to my ear.

"Hello?"

"Hello darling, are you busy right now?"

"Um a bit, what's happening grandma?"

"Your father has a proposition for you, Toma tell her."

I heard the two bicker a bit over the call, I rolled my eyes and attempted to listen until she had suddenly ended the call. "Well that was rude." I said, I was surprised at how well she was speaking to my dad this time though.

Two months ago my grandmother had been placed in my custody, however, because I was pregnant, I wasn't physically able to be put in charge of her just in case she had slipped up.

As a result I placed a cursed enchantment on her and put her in the responsibility of the council, as well as the royal guard. Over time she had proved to be honest, she explained that once she had gone through her transformation, someone who she couldn't recall, had placed a gem upon her person. This gem is what had unleashed a darker, more sadistic side of herself. The council assumes since her will was strong she was able to regain about five percent of her humanity.

At first, I was quite suspicious, however, she has proven herself to be trustworthy. Even Igneel seems to trust her.

For some reason she had an unexplainable hatred for my father, so there is always someone keeping an eye on her.

I received another call again, this time from a certain blonde girl.

"Hey n/n"

"Hey Lucy, how're you feeling?"

"Not any better...Cana told me she's leaving next month"

"Are you gonna be okay? I can bring some sweets and we can cry about it in advance?"

"No...I'm okay! If it's what she wants then I will support her, if it's meant to happen it'll happen!"

I sighed, Lucy and Cana had been doing very well these past few months, I know once she leaves they're both going to be a wreck.

"Let's not talk about that right now, okay? Whats going on?"

"Well im just here, writing, or at least, trying to"

"Writers block?"

I heard a rather loud groan from the other line, I chuckled slightly before saying my goodbyes, leaving the girl to herself.

I placed my phone back on the nightstand, opening up one of the drawers and pulling out a letter I had received this morning.

Dear y/n,

How ya doin squirt? Hope you're feelin okay, Levy said I should check up on ya and make sure that you idiots are doin okay.

Make sure to write the due date for when you have the brat, I'll come by a couple weeks before to help out. Don't tell nobody though, got it?

By the way, Levy said you should get some magicae stones, says they help with the pain or somethin? I don't fucking know, I'm not a chick so I don't have to deal with this shit.

Also your old lady is a pain in the ass. She's just like you except she sounds fancier and gets more annoying everyday. It's kinda nice, since I don't get to see ya often anymore...

Be safe out there squirt, tell Salamander to get his shit together or I'll do it for him.

I smiled at the letter, putting it back into the drawer and cuddling into my husband's warmth. I was due in two and a half months, we already had a name picked out and everything.

Maybe things will get better, they do say spring brings new beginnings.

I really hope thats the case.

"Your grace."

"Ah, Irene, what a pleasant surprise, have you taken a gander at yours lately?"

"Just the other day duchess Elaine, I was quite surprised that yours was well acquainted with mine. However-"

"I understand, we must discuss that traitor whom I address as my mother."

"As well as how the father of-"

"Im well aware...this will complicate things. I will have my revenge. Even if it means stripping her of her happiness."
