Part two-chapter twelve: something off

I wiped the crust out of my eyes and looked over at the sleeping male beside me, with nothing but a thin sheet covering the two of us. I looked down at my hand to my ring finger, staring at the small gem on it. I suddenly felt a shift on the mattress, I looked up toward the pink-haired male and watched as he yawned before grabbing my waist and pulling me toward him.

"This is insane..."

"I know, but I'm really glad we did it" I confessed, holding his hand playing with his wedding band. He leaned down, pressing his forehead against mine. His hand remained in mine, his thumb caressing the side of it.

We stayed like that for a minute, taking in the complete bliss of the moment. Eventually, the two of us separated, I got up from the bed and slowly walked toward the closet, grabbing one of my husband's one-sleeved vests and black fabric shorts. I grabbed my boots from the side of the closet, then grabbing my undergarments from the floor, walking into the bathroom.

I turned on the faucet of the bathtub, slowly, relaxing and allowing for the warmth of the tub to relax my sore muscles.

After a nice clean soak, I slowly got up from the bathtub and grabbed the towel, patting my body dry.

I slipped on the outfit quickly and left the bathroom, immediately noticing the non-existent presence of my partner. I sighed and walked out of the bedroom, only to be met by a certain blonde girl grabbing my hand and dragging me out of the inn.

"We're running super late!"

"Oh really? I couldn't tell"

"This isn't time to joke around y/n! It's already past midday! Plus Laxus' fight is starting"

The two of us ran the rest of the way to the arena, finally making it to the viewing balcony a few minutes later. I took a seat next to Cana who was going on and on about how amazing the first challenge went for our guild, I smiled and congratulated both her and Erza on their respective wins following that by turning my attention toward the battle itself.

Nothing was happening just yet, they were hyping up the crowd for the incoming battle. I then noticed a small pink-haired boy and an even smaller blue cat run up to me.

"Hi, mama!"

"Hi, baby, how'd you sleep?"

"Good! Uncle Gajeel took me to get breakfast!"

"He did? Well isn't that nice? I'm sorry I couldn't take you, baby"

"It's okay mama! Papa said you were tired and wanted to sleep more"

"Wheres papa?"

"He went to go see Porlyusica, he said he'd be back soon"

I scooted slightly and made room for my son on the bench, instead of taking the seat he opted for what he believed was the better option, tiptoe by the railing and slightly peer over it. I groaned and prayed for my poor legs before standing and grabbing my son, lifting him onto the railing, securing his positions with my arm wrapped tightly around his torso.

He smiled happily and looked out onto the battle arena, the two of us cheering loudly once Laxus slowly walked out. Screaming filled the arena as the blonde came out, sometimes I forget just how popular he is- or was.

After a few seconds, a wizard wearing all golden armor walked out, wearing a purple cape type thing as well. My stomach churned just looking at him, something felt off about it.

"Hey n/n, you doing okay?" I felt Natsu grab my shoulder, I could practically see the look of concern on his face.

"I'm fine...somethin about that guy...seems a bit off- huh?!" I practically glared at the battle taking place in front of my very eyes.

"There's no way...Laxus is absolutely getting his shit rocked-" I watched as the person who I had looked up to, who had mentored me for years, be beat by someone who didn't look like such a powerhouse.

Natsu leaned over the balcony, shouting something at the blonde, but still nothing.

We continued watching the fight, everyone leaning over the balcony, watching in anticipation. Igneel turned around and hopped off the railing, Happy trailing behind him. Bisca followed behind the two, giving me a thumbs-up before leaving, I sighed and continued looking out toward the fight.

Laxus being beaten wasn't impossible, but it sure as hell wasn't easy. The way Laxus was attacking wasn't normal, he typically never did well with footwork, so why is he doing so much of it?

"His attacks are off."

"You noticed it too Natsu?"

"Mhm. I've brawled enough with the guy to know he almost never uses his legs to fight..."

The two of us continued looking out until suddenly, the vision before us changed. All of us immediately met by Laxus, as well as his father Ivan and multiple other members of Raven tail unconscious and at the blonde's mercy.

Chapati quickly announced the disqualification of the rival guild, Laxus walking out of the arena. I smiled and whistled out alongside the crowd, waiting for the blonde to come up to the viewing balcony.

We all watched as Wendy gave the battle her all, despite her age she had always shown promise with her magic. Although, the same could be said about the other mage. Natsu held my hand tighter as they fought, his grip tightening with every punch or kick delivered. I looked over toward the pink-haired man, whispering to him in an attempt to relax him.

"She's going to win this, relax, there's no way she's gonna lose"

He smiled, slowly relaxing his grip and turning his attention toward the fight once again.

"your highness?" I heard someone say from behind me, I turned around feeling Natsu's grip tighten as I did so. Arcadios motioned for me to follow him outside, I nodded and turned to face my partner giving him a gentle smile, which followed in him releasing my hand, allowing for me to follow the general.

I followed him outside the arena, and into a carriage, he didn't say a word to me the entire ride to the castle. Once we had gotten out, surprisingly Hisui was the one who had greeted me, hugging me tightly before grabbing my left hand and examining my ring finger. "I'm so surprised he did it!"

"you knew he was going to ask?"

"well, I wasn't sure because he had asked me if it was unlawful for you to marry someone who wasn't royalty so that gave it away."

I chuckled at the reveal and followed her inside the castle, into our father's office.
