Part two-chapter twenty one: I promise

It had been a week since the incident, I was currently sitting on the sofa chair, reading a letter my father had delivered to me. Natsu and I had been talking for the past few days about having Igneel stay at the palace with my father and sister, it's not that we were both completely against the idea...it was just, we wanted to be there for him, but we wouldn't be able to put an end to this if all we're doing is puppy guarding him.

On top of that, I had been receiving letters, not frightening or threatening ones, they were just odd.

Each one of them counted down from 14, today it was on 6. With all of that taken into account, we had decided to send him as soon as possible, keeping him in the care of Arcadios and the royal guard.

I would join him, however, for the past week I've felt myself growing weaker and weaker. My body temperature dropping by the day, if I go I wouldn't be any help whatsoever, i'd be useless.

I took a sip of my hot tea and noticed a small piece of glass attached to the paper.

"Your sister requested that I had this sent to you as well, someone informed her you were collecting them."

I fiddled with the piece in my hand, staring at it. I got up and walked into the kitchen, resting my mug on a counter top and opening up a cabinet. I stuffed the piece in the back of the cabinet, reaching for my mug of tea.

"What're you doing up so late?"

I turned to face my husband, he leaned against a wall and stared at me for a few seconds before approaching me.

"I was just reading...nothing else..."

"Yeah?"

"Mhm"

"Then why were you stuffing a lacrima piece in the cabinet? Isn't that the cabinet you have the other used pieces hidden?"

I stood there amazed that he had found the spot I had hidden them. Sure the cabinet seemed obvious, however they were hidden inside an unused tea kettle, which, even I hadn't even used.

"Well would you look at that? Since when did you become a detective?"

"When you started getting sick." He said, he grabbed my hand and dragged me into the bedroom, the two of us sitting on the right edge of the bed while our son and Happy slept on the left.

"You didn't go to Porlyusica like you said you would."

"Because I don't need to. Im fine. Our top priority should be our son."

"Exactly and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to see his mom sick like this. He'd want you to be healthy."

The two of us stayed silent before he pulled me into his embrace, I felt my body temperature rise again. It would happen on and off occasionally, i fired it was because of Natsu's natural high body heat which I was incredibly thankful for.

I woke up to someone shaking my body and crying, I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes. I sat up and felt my son immediately bury his head in my stomach, crying and wailing about how he didn't want to leave. I shushed him gently, running my hands through his pink hair, "your dad and I just wanna make sure you're safe, you'll be safer with grandpa than with us baby"

"But i don't wanna go! I wanna stay here with you and dad!"

"I know, we'll come and get you as soon as we find the person who tried to take you, I promise you we'll come and get you right after. You'll be okay, I promise."

The small boy looked up at me before embracing me tightly, Natsu and Happy came into the room, the mage put down a rather large bag beside the door. The two of them came and embraced the small boy with me, all of us enjoying the moment.

We all stopped, hearing a knock at the front door. I got up from the bed, staying in the baggy pants and t-shirt I was currently wearing.

I opened the door and saw Lucy standing there, saying that Arcadios was already at the guild hall, waiting for us. I nodded and shouted for everyone, all three of them leaving the room and exiting the house.

Igneel immediately ran back inside, grabbing something before leaving, stuffing it in a smaller backpack he had while Natsu held the larger one.

The boy held onto both of our hands, gripping them as tightly as possible.

We got to the guildhall rather quickly, much to the dismay of the smaller boy. Natsu and I watched as everyone said their temporary goodbyes, i could feel tears start to swell up in my eyes. Finally after a few minutes, the small boy turned toward the two of us, embracing both of us as tightly.

Natsu looked at his son for a second and grinned, however you could see the slight redness in his eyes.

"Your mom and I will come and get you as soon as its safe for you to be here, I swear buddy."

"Promise?"

"Promise."

The two smiled at each other, Natsu wiping the remaining tears from his son's face.

Igneel turned to me, smiling at me before hugging me tightly.

"Mom?"

"Yes?"

"Please take care of yourself..." He whispered, I kissed his forehead gently and grabbed both his hands. "I will, I promise."

The small boy released himself for my grip, turning toward Arcadios and smiled brightly. Arcadios led him into the carriage all of us saying our final goodbyes as he waved to us from the window.

Master came up beside the two of us, all of us watching as they rode off toward Crocus.

"You did the correct thing you two. It seems to be the right time to do so as well- child?"

My heart was beating out of my chest, my head aching intensely.

"Y/n are you-"

My ears began to ring, I put my hands on the sides of my head. I felt myself lose feeling in my legs, my vision became blurred as everything became dark.

"Mother's room...the bed..." I muttered, I felt someone shake my body as I agonizingly slowly slipped into unconsciousness.

Hey everybody, just wrote the end of part two and as a result I will be uploading everyday until the end of it, then taking a few days off to write the beginning of part three! Look forward to it, alright ily all, be safe, and go drink some water.
