Juliet's POV:
Colby and I drove to the airport a couple days after Christmas. We'd be going to LA to hang out with Brennen. I was looking forward to hanging out with him.
I turned to my husband. "You ready to fly back to our old home city?"
He nodded. "Yeah, I'm ready. Are you?"
"Yeah. But I'm a little worried about it being a hotspot. And with the baby-"
"I get it. But we'll wear masks and sanitize and socially distance. We'll do all we can. I'll do all I can to keep my girls safe, okay?"
"Okay."
We boarded our plane and the second I sat down, I rested my head on Colby's shoulder.
Maybe a minute or two later, a woman walked up to us with a scowl on her face. "You're in my seat."
I frowned at her. "No, this is my seat. We paid for it."
"I paid for that seat, young lady. You should show your elders some respect. Didn't your parents ever teach that?"
"Yeah. They did teach me that. Now please, leave me and my husband alone. You're not wearing a mask, so I kindly ask you to move. I won't ask nicely again."
"If your mother saw how you treated me, she would be ashamed."
That was the finale straw. I stood and glared. "Ma'am, you need to leave us alone." I hailed a flight attendant.
A flight attendant walked up to us. "What seems to be the problem?"
The woman put on a mask maybe to avoid being yelled at and said, "This little bitch is in my seat."
Colby's eyes flashed. "Don't call her that!"
I held a hand to Colby, letting him know that I could handle it. "No. She's wrong. This woman came up to us and told us we were sitting in her seat, which is a complete lie. Here's our boarding passes." I held up Colby's and my boarding passes.
The flight attendant looked at them. "Ma'am, this young woman is right. These are their seats. You need to find your seat. We'll be taking off soon."
The woman glared at me and Colby before walking away.
"You okay?" Colby asked.
I nodded slowly. "Yeah, I just hate being called that word."
"I know you do. The nerve of some people."
"I-I'm not that, am I?"
Colby shook his head and kissed my cheek. "Jules, you are so far from being a bitch. You, my dear, are the most beautiful, kind, well, mostly kind, woman I know. Hey, sit down, okay?"
I nodded and instantly grabbed a barf bag and got sick.
"I hate morning sickness," I whined.
"I'm sorry, babe. I wish I could help you."
"Maybe you can. Do you have the ginger candy readily available?"
He nodded and handed me a ginger candy.
I immediately put it in my mouth and closed my eyes, trying to stop the nausea. Colby rubbed a hand up and down my thigh.
Along the line, I started feeling a little better. I kept my eyes closed and our flight eventually landed.
After waiting for others before our row to get off, we grabbed our stuff and exited the plane.
I looked up at Colby. "Is Brennen picking us up?"
