[Surprise! I haven't forgotten about this book. Just lost inspiration for a bit, but I'm back!]
Colby's POV:
I woke up to find Juliet's side empty.
"Jules? Babe?" I called.
"In here," she replied in a shaky voice.
I instantly ran to the bathroom and found it unlocked. Jules was on the floor, tears in her eyes.
I knelt in front of her. "What's wrong?"
"It came today. I thought I'd be ready, but I wasn't."
"What came?"
She met my eyes. "It."
I frowned and she rolled her eyes before saying, "God's gift to women."
"Oh. Oh. How are you holding up?"
"The cramps hurt less than the heartbreak. This shouldn't be happening."
"No, it shouldn't but it is. But, think about this. This is good. It means we've got another chance."
She sniffled. "But I'm not ready."
"I know. And that's okay. To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm ready either."
"Will we ever be ready again?"
"Yeah, I think we will."
Two Months Later
Jules had been slightly off the past couple weeks, and I had an idea as to what it might be, but I didn't want to get my hopes up.
I looked for my wife and found her in the bathroom.
She wiped her mouth and groaned. "Nausea sucks. Colby, I think I might be..."
"You think?"
"Yeah. This is exactly what happened last time. I was nauseous and tired. I already took a test and-" she looked at it and gasped. "There's two pink lines."
I kissed her and knelt down to her stomach. "Hang in there, baby. I got a good feeling about you."
Jules glanced up and whispered, "Please, God, let this one make it."
She stood and smirked. "I know what I'm doing to Jake."
"You finally figured it out? How many months has it been?"
"Don't know. Hey. Should we tell the others our news?"
"Do you want to?"
"Yeah. We tell our family and friends and then I get Jake back."
"Okay. Let's go."
We made our way to the living room and gathered everyone together.
Katrina looked between us and frowned. "What's going on, guys?"
Jules glanced at me and I smiled before I said, "Juliet's pregnant."
Tara smiled. "That's great! But what if-"
Jules cut her off. "We're not thinking about that. Lord-willing, this baby makes it. Just thought you guys should know. We're going to tell our families."
We left and started a Zoom call and our family answered.
"I don't have a lot of time," my dad said. "I hope it's important."
I nodded. "Yeah, it is, Mr. Griffin. Jules and I are expecting again."
"Congratulations!" people chorused.
"Congrats!" others said.
Moments later, we ended the call and Jules smirked. "Now I get Jake back."
"You have your devious smirk," I said. "The scary one."
"Good. I have a plan. You're killing ng me."
"What? Haven't you already done that?"
"Not that Jake's seen. Or Tara and Katrina for that matter. So, I got a knife and covered it with fake blood. I got a shirt stained with blood. You gotta put blood wherever you're gonna stab me and make sure to get it on the floor and yourself. Ooh, wear one of Jake's shirts. Then frame Jake for my murder."
"You are so devious and I love it."
We got ready and I placed the fake blood on Juliet's skin where she told me to.
I hid the knife and and shirt in Jake's room and went downstairs, putting on a sad expression.
Sam frowned. "What's wrong, Colby?"
"Jules. She's-"
"She's what?"
"I... I think she's been murdered."
"What? But she was fine a few hours ago."
"I hadn't seen her for awhile and I went to check on her. She's..."
Sam ram up the stairs and saw Jules. "Where's the murder weapon?"
"I-I don't know."
"We gotta find it, Colby."
"Yeah. Um, I'll check Jake's room and you check Corey's."
We went off to check the rooms and I found the knife and shirt.
"Sam!" I yelled. "Found these in Jake's room!"
Sam ram towards me and frowned. "What the fuck?"
I ran downstairs and stalked towards Jake. "What the fuck did you do to my wife?!"
Jake met my eyes. "I didn't do anything!"
"Really?! Then why did I find a knife and one of your T-shirts with her blood on it?! You killed her! The mother of my future child!"
"No, I didn't!"
Tara shook her head. "You were gone for awhile. You didn't, Jake, right?"
"No! What the fuck is this?!"
Jules appeared, still covered in fake blood. "How's it feel, Jacob Webber?"
"This was you?"
"Yeah. Told you I'd get you back."
"I really hate you sometimes."
She put on her Joker smile and said in a scary tone, "Let's put a smile on that face!" She smirked. "Revenge complete. Now, if you'll excuse me, I gotta wash this faux blood off. And I'll wash your shirt. I'm not that mean."
"Thanks, Juliet."
She began singing. "Tell me I'm a bad girl, kick me like a stray."
"Isn't the correct word man?"
"Do I look like a man to you? No! Well, they encourage your complete cooperation."
"Okay, Jules," I said. "That's enough. You did your prank."
She smiled and looked at me. "Can I have a fluffernutter?"
"You still want those?"
"Pregnancy doesn't still my New England delicacy, babe."
"Okay," I said with a laugh, kissing her forehead. "Let's make you a fluffernutter."
She skipped to the kitchen and I laughed again, uttering a silent prayer that this baby would make it.
