Juliet's POV:

The next day, I felt completely numb, and I wasn't sure why. Then it occurred to me. Today was Ma's birthday.

I made my way downstairs and silently made up some bacon, as I felt like it. While I was eating, Jackson appeared and took a slice of bacon. I swatted his hand away and the piece of bacon landed on the floor. Our black cat, Mimi, made her appearance and ate the piece of bacon.

Colby rubbed his eyes as he entered the kitchen and yet again, my bacon was stolen. I grabbed it from his hand and narrowed my eyes.

He frowned. "Why so mad, babe?"

I ignored him and walked back upstairs, followed by my brother. "Julie? What's wrong?"

I remained silent and my brother studied me. "You miss her, don't you? Rough day?"

"Yeah. I miss her. Yeah. Rough day."

"Simple answers. Alright, then. You know what'll do you some good?"

"No, what?"

"A trip around. I know you love the historical sights."

"That I do."

I went downstairs to grab my keys, as I keep them near the front door, and Colby walked up to me. "Where are you going?"

"What do you care?" I asked harshly.

He stepped back. "Don't yell at me, please. I was just asking a question."

"I'm going out with Jackson. Brother sister day."

"Okay. Have fun." He started walking off and turned back around. "Hey, are you okay? And please don't make a My Chemical Romance pun."

I bit my lip. "I will be."

"You will be?"

"Yeah, Jackson's taking me to some of my favorite places out and about. That always helps me feel better."

"Alright. I'll see you later, okay?"

I nodded. "Okay."

He then kissed me, seemingly desperately. "I love you, Juliet."

"I love you too, Colbs. I'll see you later."

Jackson appeared and said, "You ready?"

We climbed into my car and I drove to the first location; the Bunker Hill Monument. I loved seeing important locations during the colonial era. I'm not sure why, but they always made me feel better.

After hanging out at several places, Jackson said, "You hungry? I made fluffernutters."

"Uh, yeah. I could go for some food. You know me so well."

"I should think so."

We fell into a comfortable silence as we ate our sandwiches. Once we finished, we resumed walking around and a duck boat passed us. I mockingly made the duck sound the whistles given at the end make.

Jackson laughed and said, "Be nice, Julie."

"Sorry, I gotta mock the whole touristy duck tour thing. Don't tell me you don't mock it."

"I do, but I don't make the sound aloud for everyone to hear."

"But it's fun to make the sound."

"I suppose so, but you're still weird."

"What does that have to do with anything?"

"I don't know. It just does."

Jackson rolled his eyes and we made our way to Dunkin', as the two of us needed a serious coffee fix ASAP.

I got my usual, a large regular. Jackson got the same thing. He doesn't get a large very often, but when he does, it means he's really tired and needs to wake up.

When we got back to the house, before we got out, Jackson asked, "How are you feeling?"

"Better. Thanks, Jack."

He nodded. "Sure. Anything to make my sister feel better."

I heard frustrated screaming and frowned. "What is Colby doing?"

I followed the sound and found Colby raging at a game. He was playing with Jenna and she was kicking his butt. I had to bite back a laugh, as I feared I'd lose it from watching my raging boyfriend lose to my sister.

Jenna looked up and smiled. "Hey, Julie. Wanna play?"

"No, that's alright. I'll just watch. I'm enjoying the rage."

Colby scoffed softly. "Gee thanks. I hope you're at least rooting for me to win."

"I'm not rooting for anyone. Whoever wins will get a congrats."

"Well, that's something."

I frowned at him. "Okay, I don't need your sarcasm. It's not appreciated."

Colby pouted before turning back to the screen. "Wish me luck, babe."

I shot him a thumbs up before making my way upstairs. I wanted to be alone. After spending basically the entire day with my brother, I was ready to hide in my room and forget the world. I turned on my Inspiration playlist and let the music suck me in, drowning out the real world.
